Hillary Clinton Wins Endorsement of United Steelworkers
Given her vast experience both with foreign and domestic policy, Hillary Clinton is a supremely qualified candidate, one of the most qualified candidates ever to seek the presidency, USW International President Leo W. Gerard says in statement.
These unique qualifications give her the vision and commitment necessary to continue to lead this country forward...........................

This is good news, and it belongs in LBN for broad circulation at DU, whereas "your" groups are more out of the way for most of is.

(20,219 posts)what "team" I'm on : ), I find this endorsement reassuring.
How populist is the USW national president, Leo Gerard? Do the members support him?
That info would be helpful.

(745 posts)If it's anything like the electricians union, they just tow the party line and collect donations. No actual thought goes into it (it seems). Clintons decimated my union (Local 666). Bush finalized it and Obama didn't help - at all.

(3,544 posts)because it does not exist. Many, and I mean MANY CEO's have supported her without a word from the subordinates. And that is what makes headlines. Bernie on the other hand is more likely to get support from the entire company, reported to/by the CEO. Yes, there is a big difference. Yuuuge!!!

(745 posts)Being in a union myself, I can tell you that the Clinton's nor Bush nor Obama have been 'good for Unions', quite to the contrary.

(45,427 posts)I agree that Hillary is highly qualified and I will vote for her. But if I took a shot of hard liquor every time someone said that about her, I'd be dead.
So maybe softer stuff.

(79 posts)Is USW of America for or against TPP? I was a member back in the 70's, at the Bethlehem Steel plant in WNY. I would doubt the members would be thrilled by this.
Here is a link to a discussion of this from Lee Fang of "The Intercept"...interesting... https://twitter.com/lhfang/status/741440502906523648
