Powerball winners step forward (A group of 20 workers)

Source: Omaha World Herald-AP

DES MOINES (AP) — A group of 20 workers at the Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids stepped forward Wednesday as winners of a $241 million Powerball jackpot.

Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer said the agency verified the winning ticket, which was sold June 13.

One of the workers bought the winning ticket for the group and the winnings will be split 20 ways, said Dan Morris, a spokesman for the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union that all the winners belong to in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Morris said the winners all are between 35 and 64 years old and work in the Quaker plant's shipping department.

It's always a good day when the workers of
America win big.

I only hope they invest it wisely and don't run around
blowing the money. They should be able to live the
rest of their lives in comfort,.....if they are smart !

representing most of the department. I always wondered if some point some employer might come down and say stop it. It makes succession planning difficult (kind of like some employers will not let more than 3 individuals from the same department fly on a commercial airplane).

I am not sure they would say shove it. I don't think that would happen at my employer. Most would be professional as they left, but most would leave. I know I would be looking for a small house in Florida to spend my winter months at least.

Let's hope that some of them decide to donate a little of their windfall to Obama's campaign.

That's just barely the amount that the guys in Ocean's 11 made in the casino heist.

They'll live quite comfortable lives from now on, so long as they don't become too greedy

Good for them, though!
