Trump tweets story claiming 'secret memo' shows Obama supports ISIS
Source: The Hill
Donald Trump on Wednesday tweeted a link to an article that claims President Obama has indirectly supported the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), standing behind his remarks earlier this week that Obama might sympathize with terrorists.

The story says Clinton's State Department received a memo from an intelligence agent that al-Qaeda in Iraq, a group that partly splintered off to form ISIS, was the one of the "major forces driving the insurgency in Syria."
Since the Obama administration set up a program to train Syrian rebels in its fight against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Breitbart article makes the claim that the administration backed the terror group.
The Syrian opposition is filled with dozens of different factions, and the Obama administration has struggled at timed with finding reliable allies not tied to extremists. The Pentagon had made vetting potential allied rebels a piece of its "train and equip" program to provide moderate rebels with assistance. However, that program stalled out after the Pentagon was only able to train 150 rebels, a far cry from the 3,000 goal by the end of 2015.

(1,089 posts)that makes me think more and more that the repukes will come to the conclusion that they have no choice but to dump Drumpf and replace him. Five more months of this would lead to a total wipeout on the ticket, from local dog catcher to POTUS. Repukes running for different offices will not only run away from Drumpf, but they may actually join the chorus in excoriating him. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a POTUS GE.
I really hope the repukes are dumb enough to leave this alone until after the convention. Every day Drumpf is out there is a gift to the good guys.

(16,230 posts)would be that the Republicans find a way to choose someone else at the convention and Trump then decides to run as a third party candidate.

I have to agree with you RobinA. I think Trump realizes the hole he's dug himself in and is trying his best to weasel out. I don't think he was ever serious about the job but his ego couldn't say no. Deep down he knows he's toast and will do enough insane actions that the GOP will have to replace him. Then he has the perfect scapegoat, them.
