Rep. Grijalva was the first member of Congress to endorse Sen. Sanders. He was a top surrogate for the Sanders campaign and spoke often and passionately about Sen. Sanders presidential candidacy.
A little more than a week ago, Rep. Grijalva suggested that it was time for Sanders to do the right thing, The reality is unattainable at some point. You deal with that. Bernie is going to deal with this much more rapidly than you think. At some point, when were trying to flip 400 super-delegates, and its not gaining traction, I think you have to come to the conclusion that its not going to happen. You just move into a different direction. And that different direction is that we begin to try to integrate the party.Hes gonna do the right thing.
For those last few Bernie supporters who are hanging on, its clear that the campaign is breaking up. Bernie Sanders will take something to the Democratic convention in Philadelphia, but what he brings may be a presidential campaign in name only.
Sen. Sanders has shifted his focus to the Democratic platform and addressing the issues that he sees with the Democratic primary process. Sanders surrogates are moving on, as the Democratic Party comes together to defeat Donald Trump.

But facts are unimportant to these people, so I doubt they'll check whether Grijalva actually switched his superdelegate vote.

(182 posts)It's another false story thrown out there by the Hillary-trolls. They want Bernie supporters to come on board with her campaign against Trump without actually address any issues. Just tell them the train is leaving the station .....

(3,919 posts)between now and the convention it IS a two way street.

(3,919 posts)there is no direct quote from Rep. Grijalva saying he endorses hillary. nothing of the sort.
stretching it a bit, politususa and chuck todd. this is just a pressure tactic on the Rep. Grijalva. Grijalva may have "suggested" it is time for Sanders to do the right thing, etc. but he says no such thing - neither that he supports nor endorses clinton.
But, there is this - his super delegate vote is still pledged to sanders.

(22,871 posts)With voting completed in the final Democratic Primary, it is now time for the Democratic Party to unify. For all of us who supported Bernie from the beginning, whether we considered ourselves progressives or independents or just Americans tired of being on the outside looking in, the most important thing now is to beat Donald Trump in November. To use a word thats been thrown around a lot lately, now is the time to unify. [

Hillary Clinton has the capacity and the instincts needed to carry forward what has been started. I support her and will do what I can to help ensure her victory. I firmly believe that her victory will only come when she and the Democratic Party articulate the themes this movement [created by the Sanders campaign] has so powerfully expressed.

That's one of the reason that Clinton held or attended Democratic fundraisers earlier in the year. Remember, she is responsible for helping to raise something like $18M that is available for down ticket candidates.

(3,919 posts)not mean endorse. but 'support' is key for ALL members of the party - including clinton's supporters - supporting bernie should he win the nomination at the convention.
much and anything can happen between now and july 25th. much. primarily, complete vote tallies from more than 11 states including california.
i know, i know - it is an inconvenient truth for many of you.
the sanders campaign is aiming for a peaceful unification of the party - they - including clinton are setting us all up to unify and this means, clinton supporters endorsing bernie should he win the nomination at the convention.
sufrommich
(22,871 posts)The nomination has already been won by Hillary. Vote tallies from 11 states would have to have Sanders winning in landslides, ain't gonna happen. The primaries are over.

(3,919 posts)but counting the votes and the designation of pledged and super delegates is not.
no one should be counting their chickens before they hatch.

Chuck Todd: I Dont Think Hillary Could Be Confirmed To Be AG Because of Email Conduct
by IAN HANCHETT26 May 2016
On MSNBCs Morning Joe, NBCs Meet the Press host Chuck Todd said that he doesnt think Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could be confirmed to be attorney general because of her email conduct.
Todd stated, If because of this breach, for instance, she could I dont think she could get confirmed, for instance, to be attorney general.
He added, The most logical explanation is she wanted to make it harder for the press and Congress to see her correspondence, so they made FOIA requests more difficult by doing what? Making sure it wasnt on a government server, putting in a private server. And, at the thats the part of this the idea of convenience, Ive never been able to accept that, because whats convenient about having a server in your house?

In the meantime, several of Sanders allies have gotten ahead of him on the road to unity. MoveOn.org came out for Clinton Wednesday, as did and several unions that supported Sanders.
Sen. Jeff Merekly, Sanders' only backer in the Senate, essentially did the same when he said he would support Clinton because she is the party's nominee.
