Democrats to give Trump ‘rude awakening’ in summer onslaught

Source: Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Donald Trump’s unconventional campaign is about to feel the heat of political organization.

Hillary Clinton and her Democratic allies have invested at least $27 million in commercials in crucial states such as Ohio, Florida and Nevada over the next six weeks. That’s for a series of broadsides against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Those messages will be echoed by hundreds of Clinton workers in those same states — and amplified by President Barack Obama and other top Democrats.

Trump has made few preparations for contending with that sort of well-oiled political machine.

However, campaign coffers overflowing with money didn't help Jeb! get any traction. Money helps, but it isn't the final arbiter of a politician's success.

Donors are not rushing to prop up Trump like they normally back the Republican nominee. He has little support within the party, too. There really is a stop Trump crisis and few Republicans or Republican donors seem willing to commit suicide to prevent it.

Hillary won the the nomination. Kind of a stretch to use Jeb as an example of why campaign spending for Hillary's presidential campaign would be wasted. The Clintons and the Bushes are the same is kind of getting tired. Someone may not like either, but they are not the same.

and show the obstructionists for what they are

Pairing these with the unpopular Trump is a good move

But I also agree with the previous post, money and issues can be
like pushing on the proverbial string

It's easier at this point to tar and feather Trump than to stand for something

Don't make yourself a target in other words

Trumps supporters would raise havoc at their convention, which would be nationally televised.

A splintered party, already getting votes pulled from it by Johnson, would have no chance of winning.

Looks a lot like our foreign policy.

Shock and awe.

OTOH, trying to fight an unconventional contest with conventional methods and weapons fails. We've got 50 years of foreign "wars" that proves that.

Is this another one of those fantastic DWS tactics? Fatten up the portfolio of marketers and advertisers and at the end?

What?

Instead of spending all that money and effort as a not-Trump.... maybe there ought to be a true alternative.

I know, let's alienate the independents by telling them they're stupid and lazy.

The DNC spends a ton of money yelling about how bad Trump is and there's no money spent back. It won't do anything to convince the Trump supporter who most likely supports him because of his anti-establishment stance because the DNC has made it very clear that it is also the establishment.

IOW, we're spraying and praying.

It's called criticism.

Deal with it.

IMMHO, the best way to an effective presidency is to pivot away from the establishment position and embrace downticket anti-establishment candidates.

People are fed up with the bullshit politics. They want a dam pay raise.

It's the other 70% of the country that votes. Trump is already punch drunk. He is being hit from all sides, including his own.

This both energizes our base and dishartens his, as well as maybe swings a few in the middle.

There is a practice in war where an army keeps killing enemy soldiers after they have won a battle. It isn't pretty or humanitarian but it is effective. There is a parrallel in politics. If you aren't attacking you are defending or weak.

Your candidate would not have been the answer. Deal with it.

You really think this would dishearten his base? Are you serious?

Your analogy to killing soldiers so they won't come back again is ridiculous. It doesn't make sense in light of the tactic of blowing the crap out of a jungle in hopes that the enemy will be there.

It has to be effective... look how much it costs.

DWS and the DNC establishment are locked in some 80s time warp.

That was what I was saying.

Why the deflection to Bernie?

You understand less about Bernie supporters than you do Trump supporters.

To have sat back and watched John Kerry be swift-boated by those lying and ridiculous Swift Boat Veterans
For Truth in 2004 was horrific. As much as one possibly CAN, you have to stay on the offensive as Camp Clinton has done, along with fine Surrogates like Elizabeth Warren has been wonderful to watch. Hillary, Elizabeth et al MUST keep a hammer-lock on that Orange Pig tRump almost continuously throughout the campaign all the way until November 8th.

and then the media will show it a gazillion times for free. They'll even call it news.

He's doing what he always did. Get somebody else to pay for it.

OTOH I'm thrilled that the DNC is pushing so hard for the big donors. They can waste their money. Of course they'll get a tax break and I'll end up paying for it anyway.

It's the third way.
