Trump: I'll reveal 'totally filled' convention speaking spots next week
Source: Politico
The party's presumptive nominee tweeted Saturday that speaking slots for the upcoming convention in Cleveland are "totally filled," and there's a "long" waiting list of more speakers.
...snip...
Trump previously announced a line-up of speakers including former sports stars, many of which later said they had not been contacted about speaking roles.
Earlier this week, POLITICO reached out to 50 prominent Republicans regarding their plans to attend and/or speak at the event. Few said they were interested in attending.

I'm going to stock up on popcorn and settle in for this one. None of the "serious" big-name GOPers want to be within a light-year of Cleveland during the week of the 18th - so we can expect a slate of show-biz and sports has-beens like Meat Loaf, Gary Busey and Ted Nugent; obscure lunatic fringers from the more retrograde state legislatures; an off-the wall judge like Roy Moore; Sheriff Joe Arpaio and maybe a few cops who managed to avoid prosecution for shooting black teenagers; a Bible-thumping anti-LGTB pastor or two; and maybe a guest appearance by Sarah Palin.
Should be fun.

His daughter's qualification was that she worked for her father. The middle boy's qualification was that he went to Wharton (legacy). He was more than a yes man, he nodded as Donald spoke and then actually said "yeah, what my father said". Donald would nod back.
This was before the phrase "white privilege" was prevalent. They struck me as place holders in the wealthy pyramid.

(22,023 posts)Your idea made me look up Ivanka Trump on Wikipedia: she was born October 30, 1981 so by Election Day, she'll be the requisite 35 years old. She was born and lives in New York City so she's a natural-born American.
Since Mr. Trump has said he'd date her if she weren't his daughter, Vice President seems like a good second choice.

(14,685 posts)He has the spots filled. There are lots of wing-nuts who drool over the chance to be in front of a mic and camera during prime time.
But that doesn't mean anyone will be overly impressed. Outraged, incensed, scared, yes; impressed, no.
This is the right wing we are talking about here folks. It will be notable only by the absence of "establishment" (aka sitting or running pols) speakers.

(3,275 posts)Trump said that everyone loved him. Here are some of his supporters who could speak at the convention. They have all endorsed Donald Trump. I could write more but reading about the people who have endorsed Trump is like a whose who of the worst people in America. It is kind of making me sick.
1. Teresa Giudice, reality TV star from The Real Housewives of New Jersey who worked with Trump on The Celebrity Apprentice. She finished her 15 month prison sentence for tax evasion so she is probably available.
2. Tila Tequila, reality TV star from A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. She is also very big on anti semitism and racism. She posted that "There are only two things in this world, for which I would gladly sacrifice my own life; the destruction of all Jews and preservation of the white race" and "You know what will help Asians earn respect? An Asian version of Adolf Hitler
I want that person to be me; I want to save the world from this Zionist disease.
3. Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He said in his sermon "Gay Is Not OK," stated, "What they do is filthy. It is so degrading that it is beyond description. And it is their filthy behavior that explains why they are so much more prone to disease." He also referred to Roman Catholicism as a "Satanic" result of "Babylonian mystery religion".
4. Phyllis Schlafly, conservative activist and founder of the Eagle Forum. She is very much an anti feminist. Among the many things she has said Non-criminal sexual harassment on the job is not a problem for the virtuous woman except in the rarest of cases. She has also said "ERA means abortion funding, means homosexual privileges, means whatever else"
5. Phil Robertson, reality TV star and founder of Duck Commander. Among his homophobic statements, he has said that gay people cant go to heaven and bestiality and infidelity begin with homosexual behaviour'.
6. Jesse James, television personality and former CEO of Austin Speed Shop. Jesse James is famous for cheating on his former wife but also for a picture of himself doing a Hitler impersonation while wearing an SS officers hat.

As for speakers, their last names will be Trump, Trump, Trump, and Trump
And maybe the ones with no shame, or intelligence, remaining: Gingrich, Christie, Palin.
Add in some religious nutjobs and maybe Alex Jones.
Will their be barf bags in every seat pocket? I'm throwing up a little in my mouth just thinking about it. Attendance and TV viewer stats will be interesting.

(80 posts)IMHO, the following will be speakers for sure:
1. All of his adult children, Melania and ex-wife Ivana (only 99% sure on her). The reason for them appearing is both to fill up slots and to attempt to humanize him, to show that he is a loving father and husband. Ivana to show that, despite their divorce, he is still a good man. Marla Maples will not be invited.
2. Sarah Palin and Jan Brewer: to show that he is not a misogynist and to throw out red meat to the crowd about "crooked Hillary" and the
"muslimoid" Barack Obama and to establish his bona fides to the Tea Partiers.
3. Chris Christie, New Gingrich, Sen. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (I think he is the III), to establish his bona fides to the "true conservatives."
4. Some retired RWNJ military officer, preferably colonel or general, to pander to the neocons.
5. Some retired, and preferably injured in combat, former SEAL or Army Ranger, to help to pander to the "America First - Kill them all" crowd."
6. Video appearance by Phyliss Schlafly.
That's all I have right now.

If you are, please do me the favor of checking their golf memberships against places Trump has been seen playing lately. Also check for tenancy in Trump's properties, shared board memberships, LLC partnerships, and so on.
Trump is running out of friends fast and I feel pretty sure that he's going to use his legendary "leverage" to acquire people guaranteed to speak favorably of him. I suspect most of them won't be widely known except in the worlds of finance and fine living.
