Newt Gingrich Says Trump 'Not Trying' Yet
Source: MSNBC
ASPEN Newt Gingrich suggested on Saturday that Donald Trump is "not trying" yet in his bid for the presidency, and said Hillary Clinton's campaign is "just wasting a lot of money while allowing him to think through how he wants to run the fall campaign."
Gingrich, who is formally being vetted as Trump's running mate, told a crowd at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado that the money spent by the Clinton campaign thus far "has no meaning."
"Everything the Clinton campaign is doing to suppress Trump will, in the short run, suppress Trump because he's not trying," the former speaker of the House said.
"The thing she's got to worry about is if he is still alive as a candidate on the first of October," Gingrich continued.

Is this just supposed to be reassuring? Hey, don't worry about Trump, he is just messing around now. But, you just wait until October, and he will unleash his awesome presidential demeanor. He will stop making racist, sexist, anti-semitic remarks, and will be Presidential and dignified.

(48,988 posts)Gingrich wants to be VP by insulting Trump like this?
Gingrich thinks he can change tRump around in three months?
Gingrich thinks that not trying till October is a good strategy?
He's much more of a fool than he has ever been. Perhaps he's getting as senile as tRump is getting.
Even so, complacency is not an option.

(23,143 posts)It's Newt Gingrich. He's full of firsts! He was the first speaker of the House to be disciplined for an ethics violation. He was the first speaker to shut down government over a fake grievance (he claimed that President Clinton snubbed him by making him exit Air Force One through a rear door, but was forced to recant that claim when NBC broadcast images of him walking out of the plane with the President). And the list goes on. Gingrich was and still is one of the biggest republican losers in history.
Which is what makes him a perfect match for drumpf.

(128,825 posts)Giuliani is letting the presidential campaign come to him, a strategy that has never been tried before and that is fraught with risks. Advisers hope he will win the Sunshine State's Jan. 29 primary and vault himself back into White House contention before 22 states hold primary contests a week later.
New York and New Jersey will vote that day, as will several other big states such as California that Giuliani believes he can win. If all goes according to plan, he will have amassed a significant lead in the hunt for delegates by the end of Feb. 5.

where he was able to broach the above hurdle but is still plagued with having a similar m.o. as the Ghoul -
But there were two serious miscalculations: the flawed campaign strategy - and the fact that, despite his 9/11 credentials, Republicans found his socially liberal views hard to take. On the issues that mattered to the Republican right - gun laws, gays and abortion - Giuliani simply was not their man.
On top of that, Giuliani failed the happy-family test. He has been married three times, and has a troubled relationship with his children. In a story relished by the US media, his current wife, Judith, ostentatious and much younger, last year reserved an extra plane seat for her Louis Vuitton handbag.

which explains all his outlandish and over-the-top RW-style crazy-talk that embraces the GOP's obsession over certain issues, while reining in his family affairs to keep them in line (at least so far). I.e., attempting to take a failed strategy and tweak it to try to get a better outcome.

This is a SERIOUS, major campaign.
Only conservatives could come up with that kind of rationalization, and guess what?

That seems to be his guiding principle-- get more airtime by being as obnoxious as possible-- like those reality TV folks do.
