Ryan meeting with House officials on investigation of Democratic sit-in on gun legislation

Source: The Washington Post

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) plan to meet Tuesday afternoon with House officials to decide whether to conduct a formal investigation of the behavior of Democrats during their 26-hour protest last month demanding votes on gun legislation.

McCarthy told reporters Tuesday that Democrats, who seized and held the floor most of June 22 and June 23, chanting and broadcasting their demonstration through social media, “went beyond the rules” on several fronts and that he thinks some form of punishment may be needed.

“We expect members of Congress to adhere to the rules and decorum,” McCarthy said, suggesting that broadcasting their protest clearly broke rules and that fundraising pitches based on the sit-in might have crossed ethical lines. He also said that he has been told that some Democrats were abusive toward the nonpartisan staff members who serve the chamber and who were trying to do their jobs but were obstructed by lawmakers who had formed a sit-in around their desks in the well of the chamber.

“If that is true, what’s gone on, action has to be taken,” McCarthy said.

Repukes are cowards, the Democratic Representatives showed backbone by sitting, and as a result, there will be at least a vote on gun legislation.
See? Easy peasy. Now get on with something else more important you bums.

Republicans were embarrassed and the worst thing you can do to a stuffed shirt fraud is embarrass him.

If the sit in was spontaneous, they're SOL. If they can find a "leader," something their own party relies on for top-down action, then they'll censure. My guess is that the whole thing was spontaneous.

because down the line he may need the Democrats or some of the Democrats for a vote when the Tea Party Republicans get in a snit. If the Democrats do get censured they will need to make it clear to Ryan that they will never bail him out as they did Boehner.

They LOVE LOVE LOVE these "investigations!!!!!!!!" so why wouldn't they? After all, it's an election year.

And they've gotta be seen as doing SOMETHING since everything else they've done in the past seven-and-some years has been to say no, no, no, no, no, and doing absolutely NOTHING to help anybody or get anything done.

and appoint a special committee to investigate made up of mostly Repukes. Please waste more taxpayer money on a non-issue. But I really despise how much taxpayer money they have already wasted and I hope they realize how truly stupid they would look to spend several months on this. I know they live in a bubble, but are they pumping helium into that bubble?
