.....................
"We were ready for Hillary because Hillary's ready for us. Hillary's ready for Virginia. Hillary's ready to be president. Hillary's ready to be our leader. Hillary's ready to make history. And that's why we're ready for Hillary," Kaine said to the cheering crowd in Annandale, Virginia.
"I appreciate so much the leadership that he has shown for this state and now he is doing the same in Congress," said Clinton of Kaine. ...............................
While Kaine praised Clinton, he painted Trump as the ultimate "trash talker" and someone who would be a "you're fired" president. He called Clinton a "bridge builder" and a "you're hired" president.
"So you want the trash talker? What about the bridge builder? What about the bridge builder who served on the Armed Services Committee and worked to make us strong and worked to respect troops and worked to build up and support military families and worked to build alliances and our nation is better as a result," said Kaine. .............................

Some Human Told Hillary Clinton It Would Be a Good Idea to Say Pokemon Go to the Polls"

Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine walk into a bar, boy are their arms tired!

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine is not an exciting speaker. Neither is Hillary Clinton. Neither of them are very clever or able to deliver strong "zingers." This doesn't mean that Hillary Clinton shouldn't be president, or that she shouldn't pick Tim Kaine as her running mate. They have other qualities! But neither Tim Kaine nor Hillary Clinton really has "lines."
OR DO THEY?

Tim Kaine brought lines to this Hillary rally: "Do you want a youre fired president or a youre hired president?"
.........
Clinton is hosting a joint rally with Kaine in Northern Virginia today, presumably as a VP tryout for the reliably boring Virginian. Your trusty Slate correspondent (me) chose not to go because he thought it would be sort of terrible. Instead, it was... well...
A solid set for the NoVa suburban dad demo. But the master is still the master:

@ABCPolitics Look at all those young Millenials in the crowd!! #ImWithHer #StrongerTogether
Look at Kaine, just dying over that, near wingspan-length clapping; Clinton nodding like she just bought the place and you can all pop off if you don't like it. She knows it, oh she knows it.

(5,402 posts)We need more oooomph than Mr. Kaine.

(39 posts)...and a safe choice. He is a Blue-Dog, Republican lite, just like Hillary. Does not inspire enthusiasm with the masses.

(8,368 posts)He's been a mayor, governor, and now a senator. He knows how to run a government, which is the requirement for any vice president. He's also from Virginia, a sometimes purple state.

(45,319 posts)cycle when Democrats are wanting to contrast themselves from Trump's bigotry they are so casually eager to name a VP who has traded in the same sort of bigotry and division.
Would you all dig a candidate who 'used to' trash talk another minority group? No. DU would raise it's back and go insane with fury if Kaine's words had been about any other minority group. Speaks volumes.

(8,368 posts)He's "evolved," not unlike many of today's Democrats.

Not real inspiring, but maybe that's the point.

(15,220 posts)I love Hillary, but I was simply hoping for someone better as her VP choice. Of course, I'll respect her decision, but this guy just does nothing for me.

(348 posts)Is a much better choice. I've been saying that for over a year and hope she makes that choice

(2,574 posts)Pick somebody who actually stands for something instead of Kaine, who would just double down on Clinton's biggest problem, the perception that she's a Wall Street tool.
Kaine brings zero to the ticket. As ur-stupid as Pence is, at least he counterbalances a few of the negative perceptions of Trump.
Kaine just exaggerates Hillary's negatives.
