The parents of fugitive murder suspect John Reed were each charged in Snohomish County Superior Court this week with one count of first-degree rendering criminal assistance. They are accused of helping their son flee to Mexico after he allegedly killed a married couple with whom he had a long-running property dispute, according to prosecutors.
Clyde Reed, 81, and Faye Reed, 77, were arrested last month at their home in Ellensburg and taken to Everett for an initial court appearance, sheriffs officials and prosecutors said at the time. They were released on personal recognizance and returned home to Ellensburg. They were formally charged Wednesday with rendering criminal assistance, a Class B felony, and are to be arraigned Aug. 4.
Faye Reed went with her son John Reed, 53, to the state Department of Licensing office in Ellensburg, where John Reed transferred the title of his red pickup to his mother four days after the victims were last seen, charging papers say.
She later gifted her son her vehicle, which he and his brother Tony Reed, 49, drove to Arizona, leaving it behind before they crossed into Mexico, say the charges.

(1,155 posts)Even if this is your kid, when you a under investigation for cold-blooded double 1st degree homicides, you do not aid and abet their attempt to flee. They are accessories to these murders and should not be allowed to escape justice just because they are senior citizens. Their guilt is right up there with the son who committed the crimes.
