The Republican Ticket: Trump and Pence On 60 Minutes

Source: CBS 60 Minutes

Lesley Stahl: But we did go to war, if you remember. We went to Iraq.

Donald Trump: Yeah, you went to Iraq, but that was handled so badly. And that was a war-- by the way, that was a war that we shouldn't have entered because Iraq did not knock down--excuse me

Lesley Stahl: Your running mate--

Donald Trump: Iraq did not--

Lesley Stahl: --voted for it.

Donald Trump: I don't care.

Lesley Stahl: What do you mean you don't care that he voted for?

Donald Trump: It's a long time ago. And he voted that way and they were also misled. A lot of information was given to people.

Lesley Stahl: But you've harped on this.

Donald Trump: But I was against the war in Iraq from the beginning.

Lesley Stahl: Yeah, but you've used that vote of Hillary's that was the same as Governor Pence as the example of her bad judgment.

Donald Trump: Many people have, and frankly, I'm one of the few that was right on Iraq.

Lesley Stahl: Yeah, but what about he--

Donald Trump: He's entitled to make a mistake every once in a while.

Lesley Stahl: But she's not? OK, come on--

Donald Trump: But she's not--

Lesley Stahl: She's not?

Donald Trump: No. She's not.

Lesley Stahl: Got it.

If not, to claim such only weakens the multitude of legitimate complaints about him.

I read transcripts for what the people say.

Is Mr. Otterbein "blowing smoke", figuratively, or is the anything to what he alleges he saw?

It's more likely he thinks that things are okay for him and his, just because he is special and privileged and deserving.

But it would be interesting to hear how he can justify saying it's okay for Pence, but not for Hillary.

But this has nothing to do with sexism, and everything to do with how his brainless bashing of others doesn't follow a principled logic.

He doesn't give two shits who voted for the Iraq war. It's just a point to be made against Hillary in the campaign. He won't criticize Pence over it, because he really doesn't care. That's not sexism; he would do the same to any opponent. Remember, he is a freaking asshole who cares only about himself!

If you save the sexism accusations for those occasions when they actually apply, they will be far more potent.

44. What's this have to do with the Iraq war vote?
Mon Jul 18, 2016, 08:57 AM
Jul 2016

There are plenty of examples of sexism against Hillary.

It's silly, and counterproductive to label this sexism when Trump would (and has) acted this way with ALL his opponents thus far. He is sexist, but this particular action is just Trump being caught in his bluster. He doesn't care who voted for the Iraq war; it's just something to jab at Hillary with.

Our voices are trivialized by knee-jerk cries of sexism. We need to be taken seriously when we point out actual examples of sexism - and there are many!
