Trump accuses Cruz of 'dishonorable' changes to convention speech
Source: The Guardian
Donald Trump says Ted Cruz deliberately changed his planned speech in order to make a dig at the nominee, a move he called dishonorable.
I dont want his endorsement. If he gives it, I will not accept it, said Trump.
On Wednesday, Senator Ted Cruz spoke at the RNC and refused to endorse Trump, instead calling on the GOP to vote your conscience.
Honestly he may have ruined his political career, I feel so bad... Ted, stay home, relax, enjoy yourself, said Trump on Friday, in a speech to thank volunteers at the RNC in Cleveland.

The crowing jewel on the Cleveland Steamer. What a lovely little party the Republicans had.

(3,051 posts)That I disagree with everything Cruz stands for, but he has some Texas-sized balls.
And it would be nice for politicians on our side of the isle to stand up for principle, instead of falling in line all the time.
Refreshing, and such a shame. Cruz is smart, works hard, is clearly principled, but just wrong. Such a waste of raw talent.

Just had the wrong strict principles.
I worked as a staffer for decades in Congess. Back in the day, there were lots of pols like this on both sides of the isle. Disagreed on things, but a deal was a deal and a handshake was a contract.
99% of stuff done in Congess is not partisan, but subject to graft and special interests. It's boring, so it doesn't make news. With guys like that, you could get things done because you could trust them.
And when it came to a fight, they'd stab you in the chest (figuratively) right there in the open. No knives in the back.
It's a throwback to my day. Honorable mutual opposition. We got great legislation done that way.

(659 posts)He didn't hint at any changes. Now we hear there were changes (of course there were, what kind of dumb ass would have put that in their convention). But (surprise, surprise) Trump can't keep his story straight.

(28,246 posts)I thought Stumpy had seen Cruz's exact speech, days in advance, and had OK'd it as it was, word-for-word, in a Machiavellian stroke of genius to make Cruz look bad at the convention. Where did that juicy little bit of fact-spinning bullshit go? Too many people laugh at it, or what?
