NC GOP mistakenly harangues Kaine for lapel pin, apologizes

Source: Washington Post

RALEIGH, N.C. — Republicans from North Carolina have apologized to Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine for mistakenly critiquing him for wearing a foreign flag during his acceptance speech.

The state GOP sent out a tweet Wednesday night saying it was “shameful” for Kaine to wear a Honduras flag during his speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Kaine spent a year in Honduras as a missionary. But Ben Amey, a reporter for WNYT-TV in Albany, New York, pointed out on Twitter that Kaine’s pin was actually the symbol for families with a member serving in the military.

Kaine’s son, a Marine, is currently deployed.

Fort Bragg is an installation of the United States Army and is the largest military base in the world with more than 50,000 active duty personnel. The base is located within Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett and Moore counties, North Carolina.

I mean... seriously ... the largest military base in the WORLD is located in NC ... and they still manage a fuck-up like that??

unfortunately my state runs deep in the STUPID LANE. My sons and I attended Monday's Trump/Pence rally in Winston-Salem to watch the circus. It was scary to say the least. Clowns and circus freaks were everywhere. I would not in the least doubt that NCGOP would post something so stupid as to compare the Blue Star lapel pin honoring deployed loved ones with the Flag of Honduras, and my family has worn one for years. But then I retired from the Army 18 months ago after 38 years of service and intimately know and love/hate Ft. Bragg having been assigned there over ten of my 38 years. Trump and his followers make me sick.

In the blue collar town in which I went to public school, the parents of a kid who acted out would do their utmost to put him into Catholic school for nuns to straighten out, even if they could not really afford it. So did the more financially comfortable Catholic familes who had a good kid, but felt he would get a better education from nuns in a Catholic school. The stereotype of a wealthy family whose kid acts out, however, is sending him to military boarding school to get straightened out. So this maybe another tell.

He found her in the middle of the road, evidently hit by a car. He saved her, but she can't fly anymore, she hops, and jumps and flaps to get around. He has to get a special permit to keep her and he built a big aviary, but she has a fun play perch like a parrot in their sun porch. She's a very intelligent and inquisitive creature, and always tries to get my watch when I visit. They distract her with knotted string of bells and then she picks open the knots and carries thr bells back to her treasure hoard on her perch.

Crows are awesome. They are super intelligent and learn quickly. We have lots of crows around where I live and I just love to see them soaring in their flight. And just being around them. I even caw back and forth with them. ( I don't care if folks think I'm goofy) lol

This time of year, sometimes in the evening, a flock of crows will alight in my big old elm trees for a rest before flying off into the sunset. I don't know if it's the same crows or why they like my trees instead of any of the neighbors trees. They don't stay long and they sure are noisy, but they shut up if I make bad imitation cawing noises. Everyone's a critic!

2008: Radio host Bob Grant asserted that Sen. Barack Obama "is not content with just having several American flags, plain old American flags with the 50 states represented by 50 stars. He has the 'O' flag." However, the flag to which Grant apparently referred was actually the Ohio state flag...

2012: The right wing propaganda site Politico was so eager to try to do a smear job on President Barack Obama and his visit to Milwaukee today that they failed to look before they leaped and...mistook the Wisconsin state flag as being the flag of Wisconsin Local 1848...
