IOC TO Meet To Deal With Fallout From Doping Scandal

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will meet on July 30 to discuss the doping scandal that has led to the ban of more than 100 Russian athletes.
The IOC's ruling executive board will meet on July 30-31 in Rio de Janeiro, with the full IOC expected to gather on August 1.
The meeting comes less than a week after the IOC board decided against a blanket ban on Russia despite an independent report saying there was state-organized doping at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said on July 29 that 272 of the country's 387 Olympic athletes had been cleared to go by international federations that govern individual sports, and the number could rise. The Olympic committee said it would not allow Russians to compete in Rio if they had previously been banned for doping, were implicated in the alleged cover-up, or had not been tested often enough internationally to prove they were clean.
