Fox News Poll: Clinton leads Trump by 10 points
Source: Fox News
After the conventions, the Clinton-Kaine ticket leads the Trump-Pence ticket by 10 points (49-39 percent) in the race for the White House. Clintons advantage is outside the polls margin of error. A month ago, Clinton was up by six points (44-38 percent, June 26-28).

(31,443 posts)show him with a lead, and suggesting that if he doesn't win, that it will be because the system is rigged. That can't bode well if he loses. Some of his more rabid supporters have heard his dogwhistles, and might just act out.

Anyone using violence when they lose an election should be tried for sedition.

(15,095 posts)Trump is the choice among whites by 10 points (49-39 percent), men by 5 (45-40 percent), white evangelical Christians by 50 (69-19 percent), and whites without a college degree by 16 (52-36 percent).

(15,095 posts)If you take the white evangelicals out, it looks like the remaining whites would slightly favor Clinton.
The percentage of evangelicals is supposedly around 35%, so I did a rough estimate this way:
0.35 * (69/88) + 0.65 * X = 49/88 and solved for X.
That gives a very rough estimate of 45% to 43% in favor of Clinton among white non-evangelicals.
That still bothers me!

(11,949 posts)But I think Mittens did 10 points better than this with whites and still lost. That is why the republicans all said after '12 that they had to do better with minorities and were briefly working toward immigration reform.
Then Cruz and the tea party nuts bought that to a halt. And now their strategy depends doing even better with whites than Romney did. Which is not going to happen. And whites are like 2% less of he population. That is why I have always been cautiously optimistic. If the Dems do a decent job of getting out the vote it is over.
If Hillary wins 70% of all other races it is over. And she will do better than that.

(22,240 posts)Not sure I believe the numbers for "whites". What percentage of voters are white? Anyone have info on that? Also cross tabs would be more informative if there were numbers or percentages of the actual polled population by race breakdown. How does Trump win whites by 10 if Clinton is overall 10 ahead??
Buckeye_Democrat
(15,095 posts)Maybe a significant number didn't identify their race?
Buckeye_Democrat
(15,095 posts)... if the pollsters asked people if they wanted to remain on the phone to answer questions about their gender, race, etc., and some respondents told them no?

(48,014 posts)Hillary has upside potential with voters in her rallies around the country.
She's very personable and believable, and talks well ad lib. She could
only be derailed by new and outside bad news. Trump's refrains against
her are old and tired already.
Trump has little upside potential with rallies. He is old news at this point.
TV advertising could make inroads nationally or at state levels, but he
won't sway many Democrats. I don't think Independents will break
outside the 44% range one way or the other.
The Democratic Party is given little credit for their firestorm campaigns
of 2008 and 2012. Was it Obama for America? They were on top of everything,
every news cycle, rapid-response to everything, setting the agenda. Trump
does not set agenda. He doesn't know there is one. He just seeds paranoia,
hate, mistrust, fear.
We're in good shape. GOTV. Stimulate the electorate, motivate, talk family
and values and hopes and dreams. Republicans have ceded the positive
aspects of life. We own it.
