Massachusetts Attorney General Investigates Gun Safety
Source: ABC News
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey is investigating possible safety problems with guns manufactured by at least two companies.
The Boston Globe ( http://bit.ly/2bVLXLj ) reports that Remington Arms Co. and Glock Inc. have filed lawsuits to fight Healey's efforts.
The lawsuits reveal that Healey invoked her powers under the state's consumer protection law to demand safety-related complaints from customers and the companies' responses.
Healey says Glock firearms are "prone to accidental discharge" and says in court papers she is concerned the company may have been warned about the problem and failed to act.

(6,393 posts)This is about weapons that discharge improperly. The proper analogy is closer to air bags that deploy while driving safely being investigated.

(942 posts)any more than cars fill themselves up with fuel and drive around and crash into people.
Accidental and negligent discharges come from violating safe handgun handling.
So, using the logic of this MA AG, felon drives drunk, doesn't put on headlights at night, drives dangerously at excessive speed, texts while driving and causes an accident with injury or death - sue GM

No more than airbags ever deploy improperly causing accidents...

(423 posts)The story gets better, not content on making a fool of himself the first time, he has to go
out and make himself seem like an even bigger buffoon.
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by the DEA agent who shot himself in the leg during a gun safety demonstration and later became a punch line when video of the incident surfaced online and was widely broadcast on TV.
Agent Lee Paige, 50, contended that the leak of the video--for which he blamed DEA officials--amounted to a violation of his privacy rights. However, in a December 29 order, Judge Jack Shanstrom rejected that claim and dismissed Paiges U.S. District Court complaint in its entirety. Paige, who worked undercover, claimed that the videos distribution resulted in him becoming the target of jokes, derision, ridicule, and disparaging comments everywhere he went.

(10,808 posts)As a matter of fact when the Austrian Army was testing Glocks they dropped a loaded one 10ft 10,000 times without a single accidental discharge or damage to the gun.
The safety is built into the trigger, don't pull the trigger and it won't go off....not rocket science,
