Virginia senator proposes limit on voting rights restoration
Updated 7:57 pm, Thursday, September 1, 2016
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Virginia's Senate Majority Leader says he will introduce a constitutional amendment to automatically restore voting rights for some felons, and set new barriers for others.
Republican Thomas K. Norment's announcement Thursday is the latest salvo fired in the battle between the GOP and Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe over restoring voting rights for felons.

(7,894 posts)He wants to control what the Governor does in ways that violate most state constitutions. That's the latest GOP legisilative scam scheme: limiting powers of the Governor, the state agencies and cabinet officers like the AG, local authority over things like the ability to regulate water and sewer, air quality, Civil Rights and minimum wage ordinances.

It seems to me, that a Governor (or President) should always have this sort of executive power; to forgive those who've truly done their time and paid for their crimes is part of our system.
