MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) – The Stearn County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota confirms that the remains of 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling have been found.

Authorities say a forensic team identified the boy’s remains earlier today. Additional DNA testing will be done.

Jacob Wetterling had been missing since 1989.

And hopefully this will bring some closure.

Although I have some family in Minnesota, I haven't kept too current about the state and found the below from the OP link interesting -

2004: Patty Wetterling runs as a Democrat against Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Kennedy in Minnesota’s 6th District. She loses by 30,000 votes in her first political campaign but does not rule out a future run.

2006: Patty Wetterling again runs for Congress but loses to Republican Michele Bachmann.

Would be nice for her to consider trying again (although I expect redistricting might have negatively impacted the district since that last run).

and this still happened. I'm so sorry for the tragedy this family has endured and thank them for the work they have done to help prevent these types of crimes.

RIP kind soul.
