Cornyn: Clinton duped Congress during confirmation
Source: The Hill
Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (Texas) said Hillary Clinton misled lawmakers eight years ago when questions about the Clinton Foundation loomed over her nomination to head the State Department.
Cornyn held up her nomination because of concerns over potential conflicts of interest posed by the foundations fundraising activities. He finally relented and voted for her after Clinton promised him that safeguards would be followed.
In the wake of various reports detailing instances where the foundation did not fully comply with transparency requirements, Cornyn now says he would have voted against her had he known what was to come.
When I put a hold on Mrs. Clintons nomination as secretary of State, she reassured me that they would take appropriate steps, he told The Hill in an interview Friday. As seems to be usual for the Clintons, they crossed the line and all the concerns that she reassured me would not occur did in fact occur.

(10,252 posts)Part of the corrupt republican pay for play that is routine down here in Texas. 1% for cronies first and foremost. Everyone else a big FU. So now Cornyn has done is bit to slime HRC. That should earn him quite a few campaign contributions from the NRA.

And that's at the heart of it. The Republicans 1) can't stand that the Clintons are doing good work and 2) WILL GET CREDIT FOR IT.

(24,695 posts)to find out why some your oil refineries are just ticking time bombs, how you had one plant killing workers that were over come with a gas, how one town was leveled because some nut case set off the plant, and that the plant was reported to have falsified the MSD material list that said that they didn't have the material in the plant.
That the lax safety records, falsifying safety records, gutting state OSHA inspectors in your beloved state, and is fact one of the most dangerous places to live, because of that good old words no regulations, keep the damn government out because it hampers businesses---------right.
Did you think about, or are you afraid to think about it, that if there was hearings you and your cronies wouldn't get elected.
Better yet, why aren't you calling out the Ag Sec of the state, you know the one that is bilking the tax payers of your beloved state--------------just asking.
And finally what do you think of the "guy" that your going to vote for, and endorse, and support, the same "guy" that gave money to quash investigation(s) in a fraud case concerning a scam called Trump U, not one but two State Attorney Generals offices, one in Florida and guess where the other one is ------------you got it zippy Texas, what do you have to say to that-zippy.
Don't ya love when information like this and how it just shows the corruption in your party elites, so before you go after some foundation that has helped millions with AIDS, maybe you should revisit your home state first. instead of hob nobbling with the Kochs, and Robert Mercers of the world

In Cornyn's case, it's a true statement. He's a snake and we are embarrassed by him in Texas.
