Egypt to uphold treaties, help Syrian people: Mursi

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - Islamist President Mohamed Mursi said on Saturday that Egypt would work to end bloodshed in Syria and pledged to uphold international agreements, in a nod to Israel which is worried about the future of its 33-year-old peace treaty.

"We carry a message of peace to the world," Mursi said in his first public address as president, broadcast on state television. "We emphasize the state of Egypt's commitment to international treaties and agreements."

"Egypt today is a supporter of the Palestinian and Syrian people. Spilling the Syrian people's blood has to stop. We will exert efforts to achieve that in the near future," he said.

"Egyptians will not export the revolution. We do not interfere in the affairs of others ... and at the same time we do not permit anyone to interfere in our affairs," he said. Some Gulf Arab states have shown concerns that the rise of Islamists could unsettle their conservative monarchies.

That other side is currently upset with Turkish moves on Syria....

....the camps built for the Syrian refugees inside Turkey have been set up to function as a military base for the Syrian opposition, from which weapons are transferred to armed groups inside Syria.

The criticism comes as Ankara has ordered the deployment of troops and military equipment on its border with Syria after Syria downed a Turkish F4 Phantom warplane. Damascus has said that the aircraft was shot down, while violating the country’s airspace.

Do you know that Iranians are running the show INSIDE Syria. That Hezbollah are fighting with the Syrian regime INSIDE Syria.

That any air planes bombing civilians from the air are not being piloted by Syrians?

If he does so, I'm sure many people in Gaza will be happy. I'm quite sure that increasing economic cooperation (as much as possible per the Israeli authorities) would also be appreciated.

The Palestinians are on the side of the Syrian revolution; so are the Egyptians, Libyans, Tunisians and the Israelis.

We'll see. He may have a say with regard to the border though. Egypt has much more influence on Gaza.

14. Kurds walk out of Syrian opposition meeting
Wed Jul 4, 2012, 04:29 PM
Jul 2012
A meeting of Syrian opposition groups in Cairo turned into a melee after a Syrian Kurdish group walked out and scuffles and fistfights broke out.

"The Kurds withdrew because the conference rejected an item that says the Kurdish people must be recognized," Abdel Aziz Othman of the National Kurdish Council said on Tuesday after the end of the two-day conference, Reuters reported.

"This is unfair and we will no longer accept to be marginalized," he added.
