Democrats launch new push for Obama US Supreme Court nominee

Supporters of Merrick Garland, President Barack Obama’s U.S. Supreme Court selection, on Tuesday launched a new push to persuade the Republican-led Senate to act on the nomination before the Nov. 8 presidential election, but their calls fell on deaf ears.

With senators returning to work after a seven-week summer recess, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid called the refusal of Republicans to consider Garland’s nomination “disgusting and repugnant.”

“Republicans have deadlocked our entire system of justice because of the Republican Senate’s dysfunction,” Reid said.

Obama’s nomination of the moderate appeals court judge has been pending without action for 174 days, longer than any other Supreme Court nominee in U.S. history.

I'm of the opinion that swapping an economic moderate, social somewhat
liberal to fill Scalia's seat isn't such a bad deal.

The next President will likely get 3 or 4 nominations. So I think, if HRC
wins, she should renominate Judge Garland. It would be a way of
respecting the Constitution and showing how all that drama got the
GOP nowhere at all.

And the idea the GOP will act on this in December? Nah. They never
cave. Never.

And that's if Hillary Clinton announces the person who will replace Merrick Garland if he's not on the Supreme Court the day she takes office. Somewhere out there is a 40-year-old magistrate who makes Stephen Reinhardt look like a Republican and we need to put that person on the Supreme Court.

(Of course, there is the possibility that Hillary would like to make the nomination herself, thus has no interest in getting Obama's choice confirmed.)

Republican dysfunction. Two words that are synonymous with one another.

Let it leak that she will nominate Barack Obama for the Supreme Court.

Can you think of anyone else so uniquely qualified?

Not only would we get a Justice of singular experience and knowledge, every Republican head would explode immediately.

Bwahahaha.
