Kansas man to be sentenced for aiding plot to bomb Army post
By The Associated Press
A 29-year-old Topeka man is waiting to be sentenced for helping a would-be jihadist's unsuccessful plot to bomb an Army post in northeast Kansas.
U.S. District Judge Daniel Crabtree was having a sentencing hearing Thursday for Alexander Blair. Court documents say Blair loaned $100 to another man who tried to plant what they thought was an explosive device outside Fort Riley in support of the Islamic State group.
Blair's attorney sought a sentence of five years' probation. Prosecutors pushed for the maximum five-year prison term.
Blair's attorney said Blair has an unusual genetic condition that made it easy for him to be manipulated by 21-year-old John Booker Jr. of Topeka.

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -
A 20-year-old Topeka area man was arrested Friday morning as he made the final preparations to blow up a truck bomb at Fort Riley, the U.S. attorney for Kansas said.
The man allegedly planned a suicidal ISIS-inspired terror threat at the military post near Manhattan, KS. Authorities said the public was never in danger and this was a sting, much like how a Kansas man was arrested for plotting to plant a bomb at the Wichita airport.
John T. Booker Jr., who goes by the name Muhammed Abdullah Hassan, was charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempting to destroy via a bomb a federal building and attempting to provide "material support" to the Islamic State of Iraq.
Booker allegedly purchased bomb-making components and planned to unleash a suicide truck bomb at Fort Riley.
