House passes Sept. 11 legislation as Obama veto threat looms

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House has approved a bipartisan bill that would allow families of Sept. 11 victims to sue the government of Saudi Arabia.

The measure was approved by voice vote Friday.

Passage of the legislation puts Congress on a collision course with President Barack Obama on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the attacks.

The Senate passed the bill in May by voice vote despite vehement objections from Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East.

White House: Obama would veto bill allowing 9/11 families to sue Saudis

WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (Reuters) - The White House on Friday reiterated that President Barack Obama would veto a bill that would allow the families of the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks to sue Saudi Arabia's government for damages.

The House of Representatives was expected to vote on the bill on Friday. The Senate passed it unanimously in May.

"We are in the same place we were the last time," the White House official said on Friday. Both Obama and a White House spokesman said in April the president would veto the bill.

Dozens of U.S. airstrikes in six countries

One nation's patriots are another nation's terrorists.

Congress isn't well known for thinking things out - just known for getting incumbents reelected.

explosively fractured and destabilized factor in the Middle East combat maelstrom. And I know that the repugs DO want to add another explosive Mid East problem for the Dems to deal with.

I can't stand the bush family's Saudi buddies as much as anyone else can't, but where were these repug law makers, with their calls to punish the Saudi terror connection, for the last 15 fucking years? Or where were they to even investigate it, for goodness sake? They had 9 hearings about 9/11/12, and NEVER DID a thing about the real 9/11 attacks.

Repugs did everything to obstruct and obscure all information regarding 9/11, especially the part that Cheney and Bush played in causing this. They don't give a shit about that except as a motto for war and more importantly to them, war profits. This is 100% aimed at the Democrats. They think HRC will win so are fucking up everything they can so the middle east will be even more destabilized than it is now. That's why they waited until Obama's term was almost up, this didn't happen organically or by accident. They would never do this if they thought their own guy was going to win. These traitors will destsroy us for a few pennies more in their pockets and laugh while it's happening. They are truly that treacherous and hateful.

some 'extremists' attacked Mumbai, from Pakistan. The ship that carried them to India was the MV Alpha, jointly owned by the Pakistani ISI and the U.S. CIA. That was the far right old hands in the CIA who back the repug oil nazis, trying to start trouble between 2 nuclear powers, so the new Dem Prez would have something fun to deal with in foreign policy. When their side loses elections, they use their long arms in the old boys network to pitch a temper tantrum and kick up some foreign policy 'kerfluffles'. Because they're treasonous s.o.b.s.

I wonder which far east old hands installed Duterte in the Philippines.

Not both.

The 28 pages showed Saudi agents who were in constant contact with the consulate and embassy while they shepherded the hijackers.

Obama should not only sign it, he should do so on the backs a certain prince and a couple of Bushies in shackles.
