Pneumonia Bug That Struck Hillary Clinton also Seriously Sickened Several Members of Her Staff

Source: People Mag

The illness that sickened Hillary Clinton with pneumonia and caused her to have to be escorted away from September 11 ceremonies in New York on Sunday also struck down several members of her campaign team at Clinton headquarters in Brooklyn, PEOPLE has learned.

"Everyone's been sick," a campaign source tells PEOPLE.

At the end of August, two weeks before Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia, a debilitating bug was making the rounds among staff at her headquarters and campaign aides who travel with Clinton, a source tells PEOPLE.

At least half a dozen senior staff were felled, including campaign manager Robby Mook. Two top advisers even needed emergency medical treatment, the source says. One top adviser diagnosed at a Brooklyn urgent-care center with a respiratory infection was being treated with antibiotics in the days before Clinton's diagnosis. Another top adviser was taken by ambulance to the ER by ambulance after collapsing from what turned out to be severe dehydration, the source said.

Try a bit of reading comprehension. What I said is that if other people around her were sick, it's not uncommon for her to have become ill too.

It was plainly stated that the illness had been going around before she got sick. Hence she could not have started it.

Presidential campaigns are always grueling – interminable work days, hours spent on and off of planes, the stress of the high stakes – for the candidate and staff and traveling press corps alike.

That's why one veteran of the campaign trail, Nicolle Wallace, former communications adviser to President George W. Bush, says Sunday's belated disclosure of her pneumonia diagnosis – at a time when polls show that Clinton's trustworthiness is seriously questioned by a substantial chunk of voters – is more a political issue than a real medical one.

This shows, Wallace said on NBC's Today, that "the Clintons can't come clean about anything, including cold and flu season."

This is the bloody media trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

So they got sick. So what?

Trump and his tight-knit circle of sycophants and astoundingly ignorant family are actual criminals.

"Hillary is hiding the truth, and she is not well" - and then her campaign "hides the truth and she is not well" - that is not a 'big nothing burger.'

That is a big juicy cut of red meat!

No reason for a presidential candidate not to disclose a diagnosis of pneumonia. It is not nothing.

Walk me through when she was supposed to announce it. On Friday? Then she gets grief that it's a Friday news dump. On Saturday? Still a weekend news dump, or she gets accused of 1) trying to draw attention away from her supposedly controversial statement "Basket of Deplorables" or 2) trying to upstage the 9/11 memorial or 3) use it as cover for her health announcement.

She couldn't win. They'd tear into her one way or another. The fact that her supporters are picking up the arguments of the opposition and the antagonistic media is such a sad statement I can't believe it.

Plus she really wanted to go to the memorial because she did represent New York as a senator. Also because of her close involvement with the health of the first responders in the aftermath of 9/11. She thought she could tough it out. She'd been walking around with this for awhile & the doctor had given her antibiotics. She's a human being, for chrissakes. Cut her some slack.

As I recall, the people who come down with Legionnaire's Disease exhibit pneumonia symptoms. I was once at a weekend beach house party where we all got sick to varying degrees (I was the lucky one who came down with pneumonia). I swear it was something in the whole-house air conditioning system.

I don't think the Legionnaires at the Bellevue Stratford passed it to one another. I think it was determined that they breathed it in while at the convention. It's happened on cruise ships as well, IIRC.

and they are very different diseases. It's quite possible to have ambulatory pneumonia for weeks and not know it.

It's impossible to have Legionnaire's for a couple of days and not know it. It's a much more severe illness.

The Dr gave me prescription drops. After 8 days, the cold seemed better, but the TX heat has made me so sick that I thought I was dehydrated. The Dr called it walking pneumonia. I'm still sick, but it's mostly weakness and a bad headache.

Went to PetSmart before going back home. During the walk I had developed a cold sweat. I was wearing jeans and only a normal sweatshirt for cover along with a baseball hat. It took me about 30-35 minutes for the trip.

If I had been at the 9/11 event yesterday I doubt I would had lasted an hour without lots of liquids. And shade in the tree. Even worse if I was wearing a suit.

Put a person I know and my mom in bed for several days. They both had to get Tamiflu. I wonder if Hillary got it and it weakened her enough to develop pneumonia.
