Trump’s campaign says he’s given ‘tens of millions’ to charity, but offers no details and no proof

Source: washington post

By David A. Fahrenthold

September 12 at 6:52 PM

.....................A spokeswoman for Donald Trump's presidential campaign, seeking to rebut criticism of the GOP nominee's history of charitable giving, said that Trump has given away "tens of millions of dollars" over his life.

But spokeswoman Hope Hicks offered no details about that number, beyond saying that it included donations from the Donald J. Trump Foundation -- a charity that, despite its name, has been filled almost entirely with other people's money in recent years.

Hicks also provided no information about how much -- if any -- of the donations she was describing had come from Trump's own pocket.

The Washington Post has spent the past few months searching for evidence of that kind of personal donation, without much success. The Post has called 326 charities with connections to Trump, asking if they had received a gift of the nominee's own money. Between 2008 and this May, that search turned up just one gift, from 2009. It worth less than $10,000......................

Bribery, lies, pay for play. It's all high dollar dirty tricks. And the person at the heart of it all: Donald Trump. Criminal to be.

Lock him up. LOCK THEM ALL UP!

The NEVERs represent charities that never received said donations. Between 2008 and this May (2016), that search turned up just one gift, from 2009. It worth less than $10,000.

I wonder if that contribution to citizens united for research in epilepsy. Was actually on to the citizens united fund. He probably wanted another pr hit job on some one.

Even the no comment I wonder how many of those never received anything.

I am not defending Trump in any way, mind you, but nonprofits don't just give out this type of info about individual donors to reporters. If they did, most donors would be pissed. So while this looks great for shock value, it isn't that meaningful. Most decent nonprofits have privacy policies for their donors.

every invitation by Fahrenthold and every reporter following this story to substantiate Trump's claims, instead being met with stonewalling and complete refusal to substantiate their claims that Trump's foundation actually gives away millions, as they have claimed.

Fahrenthold has been open to changing his story if anyone within Trump's team can substantiate even a couple of the donations.

In other words, there's more than a distinct high probability that Fahrenthold's claims are correct and Trumps claims are absolute lies. They cannot substantiate the donations because the truth is even more incriminating that ignoring Fahrenthold's calls.

I call it 0.something%. 0.1% - 0.99%.

Of course, he's including donations from the Trump Foundation which originally came from other people's donations.

Shouldn't such a devoutly religious man have contributed at least $1 billion?
