Vehicle plows into Phoenix officers standing outside QuikTrip convenience store

Source: USA Today

The man accused of striking three police officers with his vehicle at a Phoenix QuikTrip early Tuesday has been identified as 44-year-old Marc LaQuon Payne.

An angry Phoenix Police Chief Joe Yahner played a video showing a vehicle pulling out of a parking space, circling the parking lot and then accelerating toward the police officers outside the convenience store.

A 33-year-old police officer who was on his first day of duty suffered a head injury, and a police sergeant, 41, suffered a broken leg. A third officer, 36, managed to jump out of the way but was injured during an extended struggle with the driver, Yahner said.

About 1:45 a.m., the man pulled into the QuikTrip and backed into a parking space, where he sat for several minutes, Yahner said. He then pulled out of the space, rounded the parking lot and accelerated as he crashed into the officers and then into the store, Yahner said

Heh. At first I typed 'pre-medicated'. That actually might have something to do with this.

I really think arrested people should be transferred away from the local jail. Some police have a history of taking out 'revenge' on these type of prisoners.

but I don't see the suspect "slammed to concrete 3 times." I see him in a fight with the police, taken down once, gets away and then looks like he's tasered. I do see the cops getting thrown to the ground and of course the one cop getting hit and thrown through the window. Seems to me the the cops were pretty tame with a suspect that ran two of them over and then continued the fight afterward. But hey, YMMV.

he's pretty much lucky to be alive. Did you see how that one guy flew?
The driver is going to be in jail pretty much forever. Any brutality charge he tries to lodge is going to be laughed away.
