Trump defiant as poll numbers rise, won’t say Obama was born in United States
Source: Washington Post
In the interview, conducted late Wednesday aboard his private plane as it idled on the tarmac here, Trump suggested he is not eager to change his pitch or his positions even as he works to reach out to minority voters, many of whom are deeply offended by his long-refuted suggestion that Obama is not a U.S. citizen. Trump refused to say whether he believes Obama was born in Hawaii. “I’ll answer that question at the right time,” Trump said. “I just don’t want to answer it yet.” When asked whether his campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, was accurate when she said recently that he now believes Obama was born in this country, Trump responded: “It’s okay. She’s allowed to speak what she thinks. I want to focus on jobs. I want to focus on other things.”He added: “I don’t talk about it anymore. The reason I don’t is because then everyone is going to be talking about it as opposed to jobs, the military, the vets, security.” Read more: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-defiant-as-polls-rise-wont-say-obama-was-born-in-united-states/2016/09/15/48913162-7b61-11e6-ac8e-cf8e0dd91dc7_story.html?postshare=7541473982541387&tid=ss_tw Once a birther always a birther.

1. The media keeps getting this wrong when covering it
Trump didn't just believe and promote this stupid theory, he lied and deliberately stirred up paranoia by claiming he had a team of investigators in Hawaii who had already found "amazing things - things even they do not believe" about Obama's birth certificate that he would "reveal soon" … in 2011.
He lied his ass off to appeal to racists and, to date, not a single journalist has ever asked him what happened to this fabled team of imaginary team of investigators that he never mentioned again once the long form was released. |

2. Good. I would love to see Birtherism drive the news cycle
going into the weekend.
We come full circle. With Trump, it's like Groundhog Day. Just when you thought it was a new day, we are living the same day over again. Trump has just erased his week. We are back to birtherism, just where it all began. |

3. Hillary is on it!
She already worked it into her speech tonight at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. AND she pointed out how disrespectful it was for Trump to call that preacher in Flint a "nervous wreck."

7. Trump is on record as saying his investigators are finding AMAZING
THINGS in Hawaii. That was clearly a lie. Media should ask him to release their reports.

4. He's playing the media.
He won't say anything until he can get maximum benefit out of it, at the first debate.
And the press will fawn and gush and say my isn't Trump so reasonable now. |

5. Hillary should immediately hit back and ask why he lied
and pretended he'd found the smoking birther gun in Hawaii
