Senate minority leader McConnell: Odds long against lawmakers seeking to gut health care law
Source: AP
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. Its on his to-do list, but U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says the odds are against lawmakers wanting to gut the health care law championed by President Barack Obama.
The Kentucky Republican talked about the law on Monday to about 50 people at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
WHAS-TV (http://bit.ly/LSUtqX ) reports that McConnell says its hard to unravel something of the magnitude of the health care law. As a result, the odds are on the side of people who think its a good idea.
He says its much harder to undo something than to stop it in the first place.

Poll: Most oppose blocking Obama health care law
A new poll shows that most Americans -- 56% -- want to see critics of President Obama's health care law drop efforts to block it and move on to other national issues.
The survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation also reflects continued partisan divisions over the law in the days after a divided Supreme Court found it constitutional.
"Democrats overwhelmingly say opponents should move on to other issues (82%), as do half (51%) of independents and a quarter (26%) of Republicans," Kaiser reports.
"But," it adds, "seven in 10 Republicans (69%) say they want to see efforts to stop the law continue, a view shared by 41% of independents and 14% of Democrats."

(2,774 posts)Republicans will propose repealing it with legislation that views it as a tax. As it deals with money, no filibuster. If the Repubs get 51 senators, then they can repeal it.
Then:
They put it back in place 1 law at a time and take credit for creating the exact same thing that is in place right now.
Dems NEED to get a better message about ACA - hire a damn advertising firm for Christ sake.

(953 posts)Given the CBO scoring it is unlikely this could be done through reconcilliation since it would change the revenue forecasts significantly.

(25,111 posts)want the congress-critters to create and work on job developments, and seeing that Pres O's poll numbers are pulling away from Mittens, I think the senate GOP won't go through such procedures, which is quite technical and time consuming.
No hope for the house goppers, they are in the Outer Limits. This past weekend showed how out of touch goppers are and truly showed how crazy they are.

(128,531 posts)with Cheeto, where the host said that since there had already been 30 attempts to repeal the law, when is the GOP planning to just give up, and move on to something else. And Cheeto interrupted and said "We'll do it one more time".

(37,648 posts)to repeal in its entirety the ACA. They will not give up, and they will do anything, to do that.
Don't believe for a second that they won't do that.
