Rahami wife left U.S. days before NY area attacks - CNN

Source: Reuters

The wife of New York bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami left the United States days before the explosions in New York and New Jersey, a law enforcement source told CNN on Tuesday.

U.S. officials are working with counterparts in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to get in touch with her, according to the official, who was not identified.

Rahami, who is suspected in the weekend bomb plots, had married his wife in Pakistan and brought her to the United States, according to media reports.

9. Van pulls up beside her. Hands grab her

and pull her in. Black canvas bag goes over her head. She's put on a small plane to India, flying low to keep off Pakistan's radar. Once in India, she's put on a military plane which lands in New York. Bag is removed from her head. She's grilled for as long as it takes to find out as much as she knows of her husband's plan. If she knew about it and didn't tell anyone, she's charged as an accomplice. Spends the rest of her life in supermax.
If Pakistan has a problem with it, remind them that they hid bin Laden from us. And there is $1.5 billion in aid that is up for review.

It's called Extraordinary rendition, but it's okay if the US does it, right?

And you wouldn't have a problem if say, Iraq or even Russia did the same thing, only from an American city or town?

While we're at it, why not torture her if she doesn't provide the correct answers, or fails to admit her complicity in this!!!

You going to vote for Trump??

being safe haven for terrorists?
Luckily no one was killed in this attack. If this woman could have stopped it by calling the police before it happened, and she didn't, then she is complicit in it. And it doesn't look good that she left the country ahead of time. She knew the heat that would come down on her once those bombs detonated.
If I found out a family member of mine (Brother, father, uncle) was planning on trying to kill a bunch of people, I'd call the police in a heartbeat. Of course, I'm an actual decent human being that considers not murdering people more important than family loyalty or religion.
She and the wife of the Orlando shooter both deserve to spend the rest of their lives in jail. And Pakistan gives them a place to go to escape US justice.

ETA: And if someone was on the run in the US for attempting to murder people in Russia, I'd be happy to have them vanish. Especially if the US government wasn't willing to turn them over.
Remember how much Pakistan complained about us going there to get bin Laden?

17. There is a fundamental difference between Bin Laden and this guy's wife
Tue Sep 20, 2016, 07:56 PM
Sep 2016

Bin Laden actively planned terrorist attacks that successfully killed thousands of Americans. This guy's wife may have known he was going to go try to kill people, and failed to call authorities on her husband.

Sending the military to try to capture Bin Laden in Pakistan was a blatant violation of international law. It was also the correct decision. The wife of a disgruntled Afghan immigrant who failed to kill anyone? Not so much.

The US should ask for extradition if they have evidence that she was complicit in his plan. If Pakistan denies extradition, we should probably say "%$&* it", and hope that at some point she returns to Afghanistan and we arrest her there. It's unlikely she's the mastermind here (unless there is some evidence to show otherwise), and a scared wife who doesn't want to turn in her husband shouldn't be high on our list of international priorities.

16. My guess is very different . and yes, that $1.5 billion is important to them

Pakistan has always said that they are working on counter terrorism - even as they appear to often abet it. In this case, I doubt they value this young woman and pushed by a US request that she be extradited, it is hard to see them saying no.

Your way could be an unspoken plan B, but I doubt it would be plan A.

BTW can we also charge the Saudi ambassador to the US and his wife
with a crime because they knew 9/11 was going to happen?

5. I'm thinking there are a number of parallels between this guy and the San Bernardino shooter.
Tue Sep 20, 2016, 09:57 AM
Sep 2016

Two guys brought up "American" with marginal religious involvement, seemingly assimilated. Both return to their home countries, bring back a wife from there and are "radicalized". Their entire personalities seem to change very quickly. I'm not sure how useful this is, or how one could use this as an index to predict future behavior, but there does seem to be a pattern emerging.

15. That's not unusual. Terrorists usually avoid recruiting religious Muslims
Tue Sep 20, 2016, 04:14 PM
Sep 2016

Because religious Muslims are already secure in their faith and know what the Koran actually teaches and are harder to brainwash with their militant fringe variety of Islam. It is easier to brainwash people with little to no religious faith who have other grievances.

Same with many other cases. They should lock up everyone who knew what they were planning but helped them go undetected for so long.
