USA Today Columnist Urges Motorists To ‘Run Down’ Protesters On North Carolina Highway

Source: HuffPo

Protesters blocked traffic on a highway in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday night. In response, a conservative columnist tweeted that motorists should “run down” the demonstrators.

Conservative USA Today columnist and University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Reynolds caused an uproar on Twitter when he urged motorists to drive over protesters blocking a highway in North Carolina.

“Run them down,” Reynolds, who also produces the Instapundit website, tweeted late Wednesday with an image of the protesters on I-277.

Twitter suspended the account, but The Huffington Post preserved a screenshot of the tweet:

He should be fired from the paper and from the University of Tennessee.

bred hatred for Jews and others among the citizenry.

Having a national newspaper columnist telling drivers to RUN THEM DOWN is beyond disgusting. Yes, he should be fired from all of his jobs. It's like one of those Trump statements about Hillary and guns where he said see what happens. What happens to someone run down? Pretty obvious.

Someone with that kind of reach spewing those kind of directives isn't fit to hold those positions.

He tried to do a Trump-like take-back on his "Run them down" wording but his explanation doesn't work at all. He said what he thought and meant to begin with. Yes, disgusting and deplorable. He's definitely unfit to teach.

I'm not in the least surprised. For those who haven't heard of him, this ultra-white, doughy, sorry ass excuse for a human has been spouting such things and worse for years. According to Wiki, this jerk was spawned in Alabama. The mud just gets deeper the farther south one goes.

Hubs and I are are moving back to retire in the Smokies. Those mountains tug at our hearts - we spent our dating years hiking them and they are by far the main reason we're going back . We have land "smack dab" on the Park's boundary. You should see our long distance, breath-taking view. I do worry, however, about being able to tolerate the bigoted culture again. We've been gone almost 40yrs.

So, he wants to unconstitutionally non-peacefully protest against the constitutional peaceful assembly because he does not like protesters.

I wonder if this person knows of words such as dumb, stupid or idiot. Then we might try for ironically challenged.

Not a response to it!!

The more I read about this law prof, the lower my opinion grows of UT's law school. I personally know two attorneys who were graduated there - one of whom I'd love to see pushing up daisies. The other, I used to call a good friend but that relationship went south when I found she was supporting wingers. Now, I think even less of this law school.

Yes, I'm from that neck of the woods, as we say down south. There's a sickness in that part of the country. However, when you find a good liberal, we're usually ferociously so.

Sorry I didn't have time to give the proper attention to the article you linked this morning. This "chaired" prof railed against political correctness, as if he agreed that it's the worst thing EVER.

Thanks for adding very good info to this thread.

That's probably his privilege showing.

I've traveled through that area a few times and I thought the people were very nice, but I'm white.

Back in the early 80's (when I was a kid), my Dad stopped at a restaurant near the TN-KY border during our drive home from a vacation. Mom and I waited in the car as he walked inside to place a carry-out order. Dad came back with no food and his body was shaking, which was a sign of him being angry. He said the black family who'd walked inside the restaurant in front of him were told that they had to eat outside despite tables/seats being available inside that place! I indeed saw the black family eating at an outside table. We ate somewhere else hours up the interstate.

EDIT: Another story! This one's more recent. I drove to New Orleans to see Ohio State beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl less than two years ago. On my way back home, I stopped at a place called "Sad Sam's" in Tennessee to buy gasoline. I then walked inside to see the various fireworks they sold and I saw these figurines on their shelf!

(That's not my picture. I don't even have a FB account. I found the image while doing a Google search, seeking evidence of what I'd seen there.)

... and he said that the restaurant employee had a "that's just the way it is" attitude about it, and that's pretty much how the black family acted as well. I can still remember watching them at the outside table and they didn't look upset. I'm assuming they were from that area and "used" to it?!

That sort of thing blows my mind.

That's the way my 91yo mother thinks. Because I've so verbally disagreed with her since my early 20's, she and I have stayed more or less estranged. She's always been a mindless Republican.
So, you can understand why it's almost singularly the beauty of those mountains drawing hubs and myself back to Tennessee.
