No Fortune 100 CEOs Back Republican Donald Trump
Source: WSJ
No chief executive at the nations 100 largest companies had donated to Republican Donald Trumps presidential campaign through August, a sharp reversal from 2012, when nearly a third of the CEOs of Fortune 100 companies supported GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
During this years presidential primaries, 19 of the nations top CEOs gave to other Republican candidates, including former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of campaign donations. Since then, most have stayed on the sidelines, with 89 of the 100 top CEOs not supporting either presidential nominee, and 11 backing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. A total of 66 CEOs sat out the 2012 campaign, according to the Journals calculation.
Jeffrey Immelt, the CEO of General Electric Co., who gave to Sen. Lindsey Graham during the GOP primary, called Mr. Trumps comments about Mexicans and Muslims unacceptable in an interview with Vanity Fair last month. Mr. Immelt, who hasnt decided whom he is voting for, said in the interview of Mr. Trumps rhetoric: I cant reconcile [it] with anything I believe in, or that I think the country stands for, or that the company stands for.

Mrs. Clinton has received donations from twice as many Fortune 100 CEOs as President Barack Obama got in 2012. She collected $2,700 checks last month from Apple Inc. s Tim Cook, American Airlines Group Inc. s Doug Parker and Nike Inc. s Mark Parker. Altogether, the 11 CEOs have donated more than $30,000 to Mrs. Clinton, according to Federal Election Commission records. Two of those CEOs, including Mr. Cook, have raised more than $100,000 from other contributors for Mrs. Clinton, according to her campaign.

(47,431 posts)according to Wikipedia:
As of 2014, Bush had received more than US$2 million from his work for Tenet, a company that expected to receive US$100 million in new earnings in 2014 because of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) and that "aggressively encouraged Americans to sign up for insurance under the program...."[102] Bush has reportedly objected to the ACA at company meetings, but has kept his personal views separate from what is best for Tenet.[102]

(3,447 posts)Not exactly the news I think we should trumpet, but we do seem to have various opinions on how messaging has been working out this year, so meh. "More of the most corrupt people in America support US than that Trump, go us!" Yeah, that's just not carrying well in my ears. "More of the people who hold seminars on how to avoid hiring US workers so they can hire H1B's support us than support the Republicans!" I can't imagine why.
Yeah, the more I hear it, the more I think that's probably not a good thing if you want a Hillary victory.
EDIT TO ADD: To be fair, I'm often accused (and fairly so, imo) of giving people too much credit and it's entirely possible most will miss that subtext. For the life of me I don't see HOW they do, but they do. You know, in case you're one of those 'ehrmagawd thanks fer yer consern!' folks, gentle reader. This comment is not directed at any individual, including the OP, in particular.

Really confused here
I thought that CEO of Fortune 100 companies were despicable greedy bastards that screwed working people, plundered the environment and evaded taxes while they took obscene salaries and perks.
Why would we care about their political opinions now?
by your definition, half the news would not be reported here

Thus, when successful businessmen, who have not filed for bankruptcies over and over again say "not exactly" people listen. Or, at least, they should.
