Obama Calls Out Trump’s Insulting Treatment Of Former Miss Universe (AUDIO)
Source: Talking Points Memo
In a phone interview with the Steve Harvey Morning Show Wednesday, President Barack Obama said that Donald Trump basically insulted women and then doubled down by bringing up a former Miss Universe's weight in a post-debate interview.
You had somebody who basically insulted women and then doubled down I think this morning in terms of how he talks about them and talks about their weight and talks about, you know, how they look instead of the content of their character and their capabilities, Obama said, which is not somebody that I want in the Oval Office.
During Monday nights presidential debate, Hillary Clinton pointed to Alicia Machados experience as Miss Universe, whose parent company Trump bought in 1996, as an example of Trumps sexism. After Machado won the pageant in 1996, Trump made a public show of forcing her to lose weight.
Appearing on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday morning, Trump justified his 20-year-old behavior by saying that Machado gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem.

(3,999 posts)Glad the POTUS spoke out here!
Not to hijack but in clicking through some other sites just now, I heard the orangeman speaking in Melbourne, FL for only maybe 45 seconds or so (I know, I took the bullet here guys!).
Wow, he was out of breath with each statement. Now that we all picked up on his weird sniffling during the debate, today's speech was even stranger as he's almost puffing at the end of each sentence. Yikes, I can't really ask anyone her to subject themselves to his b.s. but.....if one were to click on today's speech (I think it was today) he is totally winded at the end of each statement.
He's got something going on here no one has disclosed to date IMO.

(7,570 posts)You know, that whole Republican thing of trying to paint your opponent with your very own problems.
I was wondering why they were pushing that meme so hard. She always looked fine to me.
There was one person on that stage the other night that looked just physically awful, and it wasn't the smiling lady in red. I don't know what's wrong with him, but something's going on.
