Three Chinese fishermen killed in confrontation with South Korea coastguard
Thu Sep 29, 2016 | 11:57pm EDT

Three Chinese fishermen were killed on Thursday in a fire that broke out on their boat when South Korean coastguard men trying to apprehend them for illegal fishing threw flash grenades into a room they were hiding in, a South Korean official said.

The three men were believed to have suffocated, a coastguard official in the South Korean port city of Mokpo said, adding that the incident was being investigated.

Disputes over illegal fishing are an irritant in relations between China and U.S. ally South Korea, even as their economic relations grow close. They also share concern about North Korea's nuclear weapon and missile programs.

The fire broke out in the boat's steering room, said the official, who is not authorized to speak with media and declined to be identified, told Reuters by telephone.

that this is probably completely at the hands of the Chinese fishermen. Not only does that toad Xi Jinping and his government instruct the Chinese here that they are better than everyone else, but that they do not need to listen to other country's instructions or rules since 中国梦, or the Chinese Dream, is hegemony.

I call my wife on this xenophobic, nationalistic shit every time she tries to say it.

Trump and his right wing supporters are doing the same thing here in the US...as are Republican politicians, like Rep. Steve King of Iowa!

Being killed for illegal fishing is a bit much!

your government tells you you're better than the other people because of who you are? Again, don't lecture me about Asia. . .I've lived her for 11 years.

I've seen this behavior from the locals here in China each time I go on vacation. They don't follow rules, the don't obey laws. . .and when caught, they scream they are Chinese and it's okay because the country they are in isn't worth anything.

I've observed this in Phuket, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Vientaine and Ho Chi Minh City.

It's only gotten worse until Xi Jinping.

They were not intentionally killed, and the coast guard has an obligation to enforce the law to the best of their ability.
