ROMNEY BOOED FOR SUGGESTING HE WOULD REPEAL OBAMACARE DURING NAACP SPEECH

Source: Think Progress

ROMNEY BOOED FOR SUGGESTING HE WOULD REPEAL OBAMACARE DURING NAACP SPEECH | With House Republicans planning to vote on the repeal of the Affordable Care Act for the 31st time today, the party’s presidential candidate was booed loudly for suggesting he would repeal the law if elected. Speaking at the NAACP conference in Houston, Texas, Mitt Romney asserted that he would repeal “wasteful” programs that don’t promote job growth. “Including Obamacare,” Romney said, to a resounding chorus of boos from the crowd.

It was planned -- it absolutely fits right into the Rmoney campaign strategy.

He'll be a hero know to every bigot in that nation -- because he "walked into the lions den" and "told them the truth."

Rmoney's is a very cynical campaign ... and say what you want here at DU, but polls show this to be a virtually tied race in national polls; it is close even in swing states.

I still think folks here are much too sanguine about Pres. Obama's reelection chances -- I think it is the Rmoney/Rove strategy to make this all very nasty, very dirty and discourage marginal Democratic voters from even voting at all.

Now Romney's campaign has video footage of him smiling, looking "presidential" and shaking hands with some black folks. That's all they wanted out of this -- that, and the negative reactions from the audience -- which the rednecks and hicks are going to just love. When they are done cutting and splicing, they'll have at least a 30-second campaign ad video for "independent voter" consumption that fully demonstrates Romney's popularity with and concern for black Americans. It will be just another Big Lie from Romney of course, but what the heck, lies and more lies have brought him this far, why stop now?

Wed Jul 11, 2012, 02:53 PM
Jul 2012

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been booed in a speech to a US civil rights group.

He was jeered as he vowed to "kill" the Obama healthcare overhaul, and when he said he would be a better president for African Americans.

"I will kill every expensive and unnecessary programme I can find, and that includes Obamacare," Mr Romney told the annual convention in Houston, Texas, pausing with a smile as he waited for the catcalls to fade.

But jeers resumed as Mr Romney said: "If you want a president who will make things better in the African-American community, you are looking at him. You take a look."

He memorized the speech, knew the crowd wasn't friendly, and should have known the moment would be difficult.

Don't you think he should have a better mask ready for that moment?

Grim, but sympathetic?

Resolute, but fatherly?

Falsely shocked that they would disagree?

Any of those faces would be more appropriate, but the weird little smile on Romney's mug reminds me of a kid pulling the wings off of a butterfly, unsure of why he can't stop, or why he's got that tingle in his leg.
