EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -- A rural Colorado school district in southeastern El Paso County will allow teachers and staff to carry guns on campus.
The Hanover School District 28's Board of Education voted Wednesday night 3-2 in favor of allowing "qualified teachers" to carry guns while on school grounds, our ABC-affiliate station in Colorado Springs, KRDO-TV, reports.
The resolution was proposed by one Board of Education member, who cited fears over mass shootings, according to KRDO.
Another board member, Michael Lawson, said marijuana grows prompted the security concerns for the district, as he believes criminals may be involved, signaling a threat to student safety.

(6,409 posts)There are mosquitoes in summer, I hear. A lion or polar bear might escape from the zoo. What if the school gets snowed in and the teachers have to hunt musk oxen to feed the starving students? This is a great idea for so many reasons.

Or maybe the county is one of those spare the rod type of religious compounds where bullying and peer ridicule is part of maintaining school discipline, so yeah, they'll constantly be waiting for the next messed up kid to snap and want to get back at his or her classmates instead of either committing suicide or submitting to fate and becoming a sullen, aimless drone for the rest of their life.
