A mothers Craigslist plea brings her kids a Christmas they'll never forget

Source: Washington Post

December 25 at 4:44 PM

...

The tablet showed up one day last week after Bookers mother, Tyshika Britten, posted a message on Craigslist saying her family of five boys and a baby girl were facing eviction from their home in Oxon Hill, Md. There probably wouldnt be Christmas gifts, maybe not even a tree.

Im such a failure right now, she wrote. Please help me.

Her message, thanks in part to a Washington Post article about her familys troubles, went viral, generating hundreds of offers to help from around the world. Someone sent a PlayStation 4. Someone dropped off a puppy.

And someone named Eddie Vedder sent a check for $10,000.

It's a mystery to me
We have a greed with which we have agreed
And you think you have to want more than you need
Until you have it all, you won't be free

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me

When you want more than you have, you think you need
And when you think more than you want, your thoughts begin to bleed
I think I need to find a bigger place
Cause when you have more than you think, you need more space

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, crazy indeed
Hope you're not lonely without me

There's those thinking more or less, less is more
But if less is more, how you keepin score?
Means for every point you make your level drops
Kinda like you're startin' from the top
And you can't do that

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, crazy indeed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, have mercy on me
I hope you're not angry if I disagree
Society, you're crazy indeed
I hope you're not lonely without me

I wish that someone had not just 'dropped off a puppy'. A family that's going to be in transition like these folks don't need to be worrying about a new pup. My concern is for the dog. I hope it will be fine and loved but having a dog should be a serious choice, with all it will need being taken into consideration.

thought it would make the children happy and didn't think it through. Really not a well thought out plan, 6 kids, no home, AND a puppy is a lot of work.

I'm so glad everyone was so generous with their help, but I have to question the puppy. I worry about pets that are just handed over to people who may or may not want them or know how to care for them.
