Perdue Seen As Trump's Pick for Agriculture

Source: Political Wire

January 2, 2017By Taegan Goddard

“Former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue is the leading candidate to be tapped as Donald Trump’s secretary of agriculture. Perdue has won statewide office twice, theoretically making his confirmation easier,” Playbook reports.

“Agriculture and veterans affairs are the two cabinet posts that Trump has not yet filled. Of course, as we’ve now learned, Trump sometimes changes his mind. Nothing is official until it’s announced.”

Only animal related statement is this "Perdue is also an avid sportsman" so he kills animals, a "hunter"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Perdue

In "agriculture"- wonder if he will bring back old school factory farms and slaughterhouses with no humane regulations at all.

He was Governor of Georgia for a longtime as a Republican? The man was no friend of animals, even pets like dogs.

One of my dogs I rescued came from a animal shelter outside of Macon, Georgia. He would have been 'gassed' that day, animal shelters there "gassed" used to run truck exhaust to a box of shelter dogs to "euthanize" them. Olds school killing- like nazis did the same type of exhaust killing to Jewish people.

nothing 'good' will come from a trump/republican admin.

We could see a backlash at this kind of extremism leading to a major investigation that uncovers massive criminal activies soon followed by major jail time for the majority of them for the rest of their lives.

once those republicans drop regulations & change laws, it will take decades if ever to get back to even where we are today. USA is about last place in 1st world countries today as it is.

And pray for things to get done, like he did in Georgia, on the taxpayers dime.

Or just be the crook that he is.

The REAL story wasnt this land purchase, but the fact that adjoining land was offered to the state by Weyerhauser for preservation. This was mostly untouched land along the Ocmulgee river. It was called "Oaky Woods". The Nature Conservancy offered to buy the land and give it to the state for no interest payments. This deal was turned down; because a group of Sonny's friends wanted to buy the land to develop it. THAT purchase went through of course. They planned to build what would amount to an entire city. BUT.....2008 came along and real estate in Houston County dropped like a rock along with demand. So as far as I know, they ended up making a deal with the state, after Sonny left office, to once again buy the property.
For an inflated value, of course. I'm not positive on whether that deal went through or not

I figured he was a sure winner, with that stupid cowboy hat, the c-word reference to Hillary, his shitty treatment of serving staff at the steak restaurant, an office decorated like an NRA wet dream, etc, etc., etc. How ever did trump resist elevating Fuckface Sid to the top of his administration? That leaves us stuck with him, here in Texas. Bummer.

He defeated Roy Barnes partially because Barnes changed the state flag to remove the rebel flag (so called). Perdue said he would let the people decide with a vote.
After being elected, he DID have a ballot measure on the flag. But NONE of the choices included the "rebel flag".
"Sonny Lied" signs popped up statewide after that, but he was still re-elected

Another career highlight

also from his Wikipedia page:

Praying for rain

In November 2007, while Georgia suffered from one of the worst droughts in several decades, Perdue, along with lawmakers and local ministers, prayed for rain on the steps of the state Capitol. This came shortly after Alabama Governor Bob Riley issued a proclamation declaring a week in July as "Days of Prayer for Rain" to "humbly ask for His blessings and to hold us steady in times of difficulty." The Atlanta Freethought Society opposed the rain prayer saying in a statement, "The governor can pray when he wants to. What he can't do is lead prayers in the name of the people of Georgia."[19]

So...does this mean that when the next exotic invasive agricultural pest or disease arrives in the U.S, he will try to "pray the pest away"??

Oh, and the fact that Pence/dump picked someone who's not an imbecile and has previous governmental experience signals that they aren't out to utterly destroy USDA. Gotta keep the welfare (subsidies) flowing to all those wealthy 'puke farmers, and facilitate corporate Big Ag.
