Megyn Kelly Is Said to Be Leaving Fox News for NBC.

Source: nyt

Megyn Kelly, who arrived at Fox News 12 years ago as a television news neophyte but rose to become one of its two biggest stars, has decided to leave the network to take on a broad new role at NBC News for an undisclosed amount, people briefed on the negotiations said on Tuesday.

The NBC News chairman, Andrew Lack, wooed Ms. Kelly away from Fox News by offering her a triple role in which she will host her own daytime news and discussion program, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and take regular part in the network’s special political programming and other big-event coverage.

The move will herald a seismic shift in the cable news landscape, where Ms. Kelly had become the second-most watched host — after Bill O’Reilly of Fox News — and often helped define the national political debate, especially over the last year as Donald J. Trump regularly attacked her, at times in viciously personal terms.

Ms. Kelly’s departure would upend Fox News’s vaunted prime-time lineup and inject a new dose of tumult just a few months after the departure of the network’s powerful founding chairman, Roger Ailes, who was ousted after several women made allegations that he sexually harassed them.

Yours is a most in accurate statement. Yet I empathize as the adhesive on bumper-sticker thoughts are difficult to remove, and often leaving them as they are can be the most efficient course for one's narrative.

Bill O'Reilly racist diatribes, his sexual harassment of women, and his touting Tiller the Baby Killer-that inspired George Tiller's murder, never got him fired. The murder of 2 and 6 injured in a Unitarian church in Knoxville Tennessee was committed by James David Adkisson. He despised liberals. O'Reilly and Hannity books were found among his belongings. Over and over we've seen what kind of madness people like O'Reilly cultivate. Yet, he has never been fired. He is Fox highest rated host. Olbermann was MSNBC's highest rated host. He was basically fired for telling the truth about Sarah Palin- after the shooting of Gabby Gifford. MSNBC's ratings never fully recovered. Chris Hayes ratings have never been good. But, there is a reason he hasn't been fired. He is the kind of stereotypical, milquetoast, liberal that the right-wing loves. The kind that constantly apologizes and is no threat to them.

That happened just days after I had moved from Knoxville and I knew many members of that church. There was zero doubt that Adkinson was motivated to kill liberals and was inspired by the likes of O'reilly and Carlson. Yet the right has never and will never accept that their propaganda has motivated nutters to carry out such atrocities.

Keep playing that game of paying big $$ for names instead of hiring actual reporters. Meanwhile - your audience only gets older and more conservative.

They are two of the biggest female names in news. And between Todd, Maddow, and Kelly, someone will lose prestige. I doubt we'll see three headed debates where all three are there. I would drop Todd, but I'm not sure NBC can do that.

Of course, they were going to go that way.

I predict that Rachel will either leave MSNBC or just settle with becoming the ineffectual Alan Colmes of the Comcast org. She's been heading in that direction for a while.

“Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change, you know?” she said. “I mean, Jesus was a white man too. He was a historical figure, that’s a verifiable fact, as is Santa — I just want the kids watching to know that.”

says a 15-year-old black girl manhandled by a cop deserved some blame for being “no saint.” “The girl was no saint, either,” Kelly said of Dajerria Becton. “He had told her to leave, and she continued to linger. When a cop tells you to leave, get out.”

getting hit with pepper spray by cops is no big deal because it’s just “a food product.” “It’s a derivative of actual pepper, it’s a food product, essentially,” she told host Bill O’Reilly at the time. “A lot of experts are looking at saying is that the real deal. Has it been diluted?”

criticisms of the Vietnam War sound like Osama bin Laden. “Let me just tell you what I hear when I hear that,” Kelly told him. “I hear you saying — You sound like, with respect, Osama bin Laden.”

claims that people in Colorado can commit voter fraud simply by printing out their own ballots at home.

decides that the New Black Panther Party is the greatest threat to American democracy ever. Kelly “devoted 45 segments, totaling more than 3.5 hours, to the investigation in a two-week timeframe” on the “scandal.”

Make no mistake, she's a right-wing nutjob. Just because she feuded with Drumpf doesn't change that she happily carried the dirty water of Fox Noise for years. And now she takes that right-wing brand of "news" to a major network. Terrible!

If she worked for Pravda 30 years ago, she's be shilling the benefits of Stalin, while pocketing cash.

She'll say whatever the bosses at GE tells her to say.
