Franken to vote against Sessions
Source: The Hill
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) says he opposes making Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) President-elect Donald Trumps attorney general.
Im going to vote against Senator Sessions, he said on MSNBCs Morning Joe Friday. "I just dont feel comfortable that he would protect all Americans rights.
Franken joins Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) in opposing Sessions as the nations top law enforcement official.
After reviewing his record and giving careful consideration to his answers during the hearing, I am not confident in Senator Sessions ability to be a defender of the rights of all Americans, or to serve as an independent check on the incoming administration, Schumer said in a statement announcing his opposition Thursday.

Actually, any nominee who heads a department that they want to destroy should be be rejected.
I don't know if Flynn needs to be confirmed, but he is another dangerous one
However, I hope you're speculation is right, and at least some of the worst are rejected. I am pretty cynical at this stage

(3,148 posts). . . His opposition not withstanding, a number of Democratic senators from red states facing reelection in 2018 may join Republicans in supporting the Sessions nomination. One such Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, announced he would back Sessions in November. Others who may follow him include Democratic Sens. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Jon Tester of Montana, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana.

(5,272 posts)shit back as soon as we lost the Senate. So they are only going to be able to filibuster Court appointments?
I'm confused, I thought for years Republicans were still stalling on hearings for some people, using one technicality or another to prevent people from being confirmed...or was that all early on?

(10,115 posts)and does he still believe that. Sessions said with a smirk, "yes". That should disqualify him from any government post, much less AG.
