Paul Anka Won't Be Performing at Donald Trump's Inauguration After All

Source: Mediaite

Looks like Donald Trump may still be in the market for some inauguration performers. Last night, it was reported that Paul Anka would be performing My Way, with lyrics customized for the incoming President, but he told TMZ that thats actually not the case.

He said, The President-Elect is an old friend of mine for 50 years, there was a dialogue to do it, My Way is his favorite song, but Ive been in a custody battle for two years for my son Ethan, and we have a new schedule now and Im unable to do it.

He added, I have a respect for the office of the Presidency and an American, and Im doing thisI was doing it in terms of whats good for our country and respecting the Presidency.

When asked if his views match Donald Trumps, he said You have a better chance getting sunrise past a rooster on that one.

Video at the link.

I'm guessing it finally occurred to Anka that the reported plans to rewrite the "My Way" lyrics for Trump either would never be sufficiently flattering to suit Twitler, or would be ruthlessly parodied, or both.

And it could

Country fans are changing.

Toby will always have an audience in Oklahoma, but he will never get the stadium crowds others get in NY/ NJ/ PA.

Also sounds like he is trying very hard to get out of a performance that would sink whatever remains of his career. I find it hilarious that playing at Trump's in-hog-uration is apparently so toxic that it might be grounds for losing custody of a child!

Even apart from Trudeau. Paul Anka is Canadian born and did not become a Naturalized Citizen until 1990. Did Celine Dion? As far as I know, she is still a Citizen of Canada. Strike two Canadians from his Inauguration. He is even running out of foreign performers! While Anka may have performed "My Way", that is a Sinatra song. What does Nancy think about that?

Maybe Trump will built another Wall around Canada for all those dissing him?
