Wasserman Schultz confronted Comey about Russian hacking

Source: The Hill

The former head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) confronted FBI Director James Comey on Friday during a confidential briefing on Russian hacking that left many Democrats calling for Comey’s scalp, several lawmakers told The Hill.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who was forced to resign last summer as head of the DNC amid the hacking scandal, told Comey that he should have come to her directly once the FBI was aware of the breach, just as he had done with other hacking victims.

Comey, described by lawmakers in the room as unflinching and defiant, retorted that the FBI had properly notified DNC officials of the hacking.

"You let us down!" one Democrat yelled to Comey during the tense exchange, according to one attendee.

He's grey and a little puffy. I think it's finally dawning on him what his spitefulness has caused him to do to his country.

That's ridiculous. They should have called the head of the DNC. Did they call a tech support number? This is astonishing, given that it's the FBI. You'd think they'd pursue the matter a little further.

When the bureau first contacted the DNC about a nation-state breach of its systems, the tech-support contractor who fielded the call was unsure if the special agent was actually from the FBI or was a prankster. For weeks, the agent continued to call the committee, but did not receive a response.

From the outside it's easy to point fingers and blame him/her, but I can see why they thought a call from the FBI was a prank.

They must really be kicking themselves now. The ultimate "what if" scenario....

What used to be tradition, morals and ethics now needs to be codified in law so assholes like Comey and Corrupt Trump know what decent behavior is.

We have regulations because of jackasses like these.

I've never been the biggest fan of DWS, but are you implying that what happened to Hillary wouldn't have happened to Bernie if he was the Democratic nominee? tRump, putin/ruskies and the GOP would have given Bernie love?

You gotta be kidding me

I CONSTANTLY say to those who keep saying Bernie would have destroyed tRump that no matter WHO would have run for president vs tRumputin, they'd have LOST. Comey would have sat on the intel information with Bernie as Dem nominee just as he did with Hillary. The ruskies with propaganda and cyber-hacking and the GOP with it's massive campaign of voter suppression/voter disenfranchisement, cross-checking, bleeding Dem voter rolls and God knows what else they were doing--ALL of those factions were going to get tRump into that White House no matter WHAT they had to do vs Bernie or ANY Dem nominee in 2016.

Noam Chomsky, back in May in an interview with Democracy Now, described the Republican Party as a dangerous insurgency. He also called it, "the most dangerous organization in human history," Frankly, if the Democratic Party was courageous, and really represented the pillars of democracy, they would know that the Republican Party does not. They would call the Republicans what Chomsky said they are. It is not a party of a democracy. Since the Democratic Party refuses to call them what they are, we must. They are a criminal, fascist, cabal that impedes democracy by stealing elections. We should view them as the enemy of this nation. Because, that is exactly what they are. That truly makes them, "the most dangerous organization in the world."
