D.C. police revoke officer’s gun, badge in Michelle Obama threat investigation

Source: Washington Post

D.C. police have stripped an officer of his police powers and gun as they investigate his alleged threat against Michelle Obama, the District’s police chief said Friday.

Police and the Secret Service have not determined precisely what was said by the officer or his intent, Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said Friday. During a Wednesday breakfast with other officers, police officials have said, the officer threatened to shoot the first lady.

A genuine threat would be a crime and referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution, Lanier said. A comment made in jest would be disciplined as conduct unbecoming an officer, she said.

“If it was a threat, it was criminal,” Lanier said. . .

IF it was a threat? I don't think that's anything somebody should joke about.

Anytime somebody even mentions a topic like this it should be considered a threat.

anti union comment to me, or perhaps I misunderstood. There should be procedures for anyone losing their job, like a complete investigation and then a process which follows.

Being in a union or not being in a union is not the point.

Seems nobody knows what was actually said according to the article.
Just saying, this could be an "inside job" smear .

I'm sure THAT never happens inside the beltway

the general public. A double standard for LEO, particularly when it involves a threat to the First Family, is completely unacceptable. But par for the course, given that LEO and their superiors tend to be flaming RWers.

This guy needs to be beaten and pepper sprayed just as he would have gleefully done to one of us if we did the same.
