Senate GOPer: We're Going To Need Dem Help On Obamacare Replacement

Source: Talking Points Memo

By TIERNEY SNEED Published JANUARY 19, 2017, 11:38 AM EDT

A Senate Republican tempered expectations of what Republicans could do alone to repeal and replace Obamacare, and acknowledged that GOP lawmakers will need Democrats' help to avoid hurting constituents in their overhaul of the health care system.

"From my standpoint, I've been talking about repairing the damage and then transitioning into a system that actually works. That takes some time. It's way more complex than simply 'repeal and replace'," Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) told CNBC's Squawkbox Thursday. "It's a fun little buzzword, but it's just not that accurate."

Johnson said that prior to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the phrase repeal-and-replace "was appropriate," because the process would have been more feasible.

"You could have put something in place. Nobody would have been harmed. You didn't have already the tentacles of Obamacare, you didn't already have the damage, the destruction, the harm created by Obamacare driving premiums up, distorting health care markets and health insurance markets," Johnson said.

falls apart because other than single payer plan Obamacare was working pretty good for most people and the Republicans know this and at best they would try to pass a watered down plan that does shit to help people.

If we cooperate, it's our fault it sucks. If we don't cooperate, it's our fault that we didn't make them get a better plan. So, fuck them, one and all. They own healthcare since they broke the ACA. They thought they were so slick with repeal and delay, knowing it would kill the ACA totally and then they could blame everything on the ACA. Drumpf, being a total idiot who wants to pretend at populism, at least until his policies take place, took away their slick plan and is calling for a real plan alongside repeal. Of course, he's lying about what it will do. No one will lose their coverage they have now under ACA is a total blatant lie, but then that's all he's really good for - lying. Price saying all would have "access" is just BS for no help and you die if you get sick and aren't wealthy enough to afford to pay. You would have access, if only you had the $$. Of course, it's wink, wink, nudge nudge with the Repugs about that.

Dems - just say no, often and repeatedly and no matter what unless it's single payer - and it will never be that.

Don't let the Repugs pull a fast one, don't fall for their ploys, just say NO!!!

"We need Dems support to fix this apocalyptic, horrible, terrible, "very-bad", evil, communist, "destroying America" and "killing Jay-Zus" thing they did"?

Is that about right Fucknut Johnson?

Oh, and those "tentacles" you mentioned. Would those be:

- Ensuring you can't be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions?
- Eliminating Lifetime and Annual Caps?
- Allowing children to stay on their parents insurance until age 26?
- Requiring that all plans cover routine care with no out of pocket?
- Ensuring you can't be thrown off your health insurance when you get sick?
- Expanding Medicaid to those below the poverty level?
- Closing the Senior Citizens Medicare Prescription Drug donut hole?
- Extending the solvency of Medicare for an additional 50 years?

Are those the "tentacle" you're talking about?

Tell me, ARE THE PEOPLE OF WISCONSIN THIS FUCKING STUPID???

Let me tell you, Dumbass Johnson, what we used to tell complete morons in the Navy.

"You're the kind of guy that would not only polish a turd...you'd convince yourself you could pick it up by the clean end"

In other words...you're a fucking moron!!!

that they absolutely missed seeing their own damned plan put into action. Now they're caught out with no clothes on, no other plan, no idea of how to formulate any other plan, and people who voted for them waking up to the fact that their insurance is going away just when they've gotten care, some of them for the first time in their lives.

I think Democrats need to sit on their hands because if there are any flaws with a tinkered and tweaked ACA, you know who will get all the blame for it, "we didn't wanna do that but the mean old liberals forced it!"

We know things are going to be bad for a while, there is no earthly way they will get better with the Stupid Party holding all 3 branches of government. If we let them get really, really bad, maybe we'll lose the Stupid stranglehold for a while.

Repeal through reconciliation which only requires 51 votes and then threaten to blame it all on the Dems if they block the replacement bills. "We had a super terrific plan but the Democrats won't let us pass it. It's all their fault."

Repeal what before what was implemented? You can't repeal anything that wasn't put in place in the first place, so "repeal and replace" before ACA came into play is just nonsense.

The ACA is really RomneyCare - a Republican plan that Obama adopted and modified at the federal level.

My belief is that Obama wanted to get the Republicans on board, tried to meet them part way... the Republicans shut him down. So he and Congress tried what they could without the Republicans on board.

So if the Republicans want Democratic Party help on the plan then here's my advice. Medicare for All or STFU.

But you didn't care to do so when Dubya had a republican majority in both Houses of Congress for over half of his eight years.
