Actor Miguel Ferrer Dies at 61

Source: The Daily Beast

Miguel Ferrer, the actor whose notable credits include “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Crossing Jordan,” died on Thursday of cancer. He was 61. Ferrer was also the cousin of fellow actor George Clooney. “Today, NCIS: LOS ANGELES lost a beloved family member. Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart,” the series’ showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said in a statement.

He was younger than I am and should have had years more of life ahead of him.

I'll miss him on NCIS: Los Angeles - I like the show and his character really grew into an essential part of the ensemble.

Crossing Jordan was one of those guilty pleasures, and Mr. Ferrer was great.

He has been popping up in movies and TV all my life.

Rest in peace, Miguel Ferrer.

The scene was about a week or 2 after Rosemary Clooney's death. It was the last scene Ferrer's character was in his office at the end of a long day, he turned on a cd put his feet up and you hear the voice of Rosemary Clooney and you see a smile across Ferrer's face

Audrey was married to Mel.

He was George Clooney's cousin, in fact he was the one who suggested George give acting a try.

And Cronkite was good friends w Rosemary Clooney as well. I also learned that Cronkite's partner was Carly Simon's mom, and they were bi gcat lovers. They had a bunch of cats and one of those huge carpeted trees in their living room which had floor to ceiling views of the East river!

He'd had cancer, and had multiple strokes this past year and I was thinking about him.

NCIS actually let him play out his character on the show. You knew something was wrong with his health, but it was such a respectful thing to let him continue his work. It was who he was, after all.

They left him shot, and possibly dead in the last episode. That's when I realized he was possibly not recovering well in his real life.

This is sad news, indeed.

Not a huge fan of NCIS: LA, but have been watching lately just because I wanted to follow Mr. Ferrer progress. I knew in that last ep, it was really bad, he could hardly move and so thin! But he was stabbed in the back while being processed in jail for an assault he'd been framed for. Unless, he was shot in the hospital later and I missed that? I, also, really enjoyed his career and will miss him.

I didn't watch any of the TV shows Ferrer was in, so I can't square that punchable asshole with the beloved figure I'm reading about in this thread.

Of course, he was an actor. I'm glad he was loved by so many.

Rosemary, Nick, sister Betty, George, and Rosemary's large family of kids.

Long memory here - it doesn't seem that long ago that Rosemary was having her family, after which she and Jose divorced and Rosie went through a hard time.
She came back though, and what a beautiful voice she had.

Brother Nick also did some TV in So. Cal. He hosted some movie specials and PBS-type works. Nick is still with us, though not seen frequently anymore.
