President Barack Obama left the Oval Office for the last time Friday morning at around 9:14 a.m., briefly responding to shouted questions from reporters and saying thank you to the American people.
Television cameras outside the White House caught images of Obama placing what appeared to be a letter in the drawer of the Oval Offices Resolute Desk, perhaps the traditional end-of-term note to the presidents successor.
As Obama left the office for the last time, followed shortly afterwards by Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, he answered shouted questions from reporters. Feeling nostalgic? one reporter asked. Of course, Obama responded.
Any final words for the American people? shouted another.
Thank you, Obama said as he walked away.
