Claire McCaskill Scolds Rioters: Nothing More Un-American Than Protesters Who Arent Peaceful

Source: Mediaite

Senator Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, scolded the people rioting on the streets in Washington D.C. today following President Trump‘s inauguration.

There are a lot of people protesting in D.C. right now, but there has been some rioting going on. People have smashed windows and set small fires, among other things.

McCaskill scolded the people rioting and said that “nothing” is more un-American than protesters who aren’t peaceful:

Gold paint is pretty crappy on almost every surface *except* shiny black limos. Doesn't show up on brick, concrete, the pale granites and limestones of DC walls. Which is stupid tactics, anyway -- if you're going to carry spray paint and risk losing it and/or getting locked up before the REALLY big event tomorrow, if you encounter any sort of official presence, why carry something that's so limited in use? Red and day-glos tend to be more useful for reasons.

and my worry for tomorrow is that we'll see the violence escalate.

Anarchists will be blamed and I'm worried that the police will respond with terrible force.

Remember Kent State? 4 unarmed protesters shot dead.

People keep saying this is uncharted territory. NO. We've been here before.

I don't want to be right--but this ship is being steered towards war. There's not a doubt in my mind and his speech today confirmed it. He will say, "America needs a strong hand and l alone have the hammer." And he will bring it down.

shit got really scary over here as they smashed windows for no apparent reason and wore masks and hoods. Liberals don't do that.

Which is why I am really dreading the womens march tomorrow. I signed up to direct visiting people from the stadium to the mall and back. But I'm sure some bad stuff is going to go down during the march as an excuse for Trump's administration to discredit those dangerous violent feminists and set back womens rights.

They'll find something similar to do about diversity. Or the might plant RWers and claim that minorities or muslims are causing the violence.

Trump's people have already taken command of our DC National Guard and visiting troops, which breaks from tradition.

Here in Seattle, we've had to deal with anarchists (this happens in Portland, too), who manage to disrupt the message away from people who really are on the streets for meaningful reasons. Remember WTO? And the only image that made the paper was a guy wearing Nike shoes kicking in a Nike store window.

covered, masked faces were forbidden. I don't understand why security didn't grab and remove them immediately.

So I'm not going to hand wring over it, or admonish protestors, or say they were stupid. Even if every actual protestor keeps their cool, you have both independant groups that will show up to the biggest protests with the goal to cause violence, AND right wing people looking to conduct a false flag operation. Hell, there was even specific proof before these protests of O'Keefe trying to organize such a thing before hand.

By the way, before you write the office sexist,, think about how many women are getting pushed in the squad cars and getting their heads bashed in by a bunch of cops were getting their macho fix. If Roe V Wade is going to be defended by the likes of you, then it's going to be the 1900s again before we know it.

I am so sick of this crap from our politicians. They have no problems with drones killing people, police murdering people, thousand of deaths due to fossil fuel pollution, the violence of bombing countries into oblivion but get into a tizzy when a piece of glass gets broken. We had black block people in our large anti-Trump march today and I appreciate it. It seems pretty well understood that when they are in a march they go by the marches rules and we have never had a problem.

That the people there were "unBritish"?

You don't have advocate for it, but one can see where the rage is coming from...

There is a feeling that the votes of the people don't really count for anything.
There is a perception that we have a government of the 1%, by the 1%, and for the 1%.
And we pay taxes and we forego good schools, good services, and good infrastructures to pay for wars, prisons, and the salaries of legislators who turn around and tell us we don't need health care and give more rights to the bacteria and tumors inside the bodies of people who can not afford health care.

What is Claire doing about those things?
