Hideous Trump a disgrace for European protesters

Terrifying, hideous, racist, atrocious and a “disgrace to humanity”: Protesters around Europe pulled no punches in reacting to Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president on Friday.

Around 500 activists gathered at the US embassy in London where placards urged Americans to “Dump Trump”, whom they accused of being a “climate disaster”.

Artist James Marriott, a supporter of opposition Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn, held a poster calling Trump “a disgrace to humanity”.

“Trump is part of a substantial shift moving into something much more turbulent and frightening,” Marriott told AFP.

we here in the US who campaigned and donated to Democratic candidates did more to fight Trump than most of these Euro-protesters did.

know if we fought for not getting this jerk in. They are concerned for their futures as we are now, they know that he is a threat. Just my opinion.

2. That's a very strange headline...is it a literal translation from the French?

It makes it sound as if Trump is somehow a disgrace TO the protesters(as opposed to the protesters finding him to be a disgrace).

3. I think it's a glitch in the software that doesn't allow certain symbols in the subject bar.

I've noticed this with accented letters (François will show up as Franois) and with some quotation marks and other punctuation if copy-pasted directly from the link. I hope Skinner and Earl G can fix that sometime soon.

5. It shouldn't do that just for quotation marks.

For those who haven't clicked on the link yet, the headline SHOULD read

" 'Hideous' Trump a 'disgrace' to European protesters".

If I type 'hideous', it shows up; but if type ‘Hideous’ (using those angled quot. marks), they don't.

Qué será (which wouldn't show up)

The US government is now, unambiguously, a force for evil in the world.

8. They're generally not anti-American as much as they are anti-"ugly" American.

Most foreigners I've met always remark on the incredible duality of America. The best artists, the best scientists, such positive, pragmatic, can-do people - and yet hijacked by such craven thugs sometimes.

Money in politics, I tell them. That's our Achilles heel.
