Trump White House shuts down comments line
Source: ThinkProgress
In his inaugural address on Friday, Donald Trump said that ordinary people would be heard under his administration.

As Blue Virginia reported on Monday, the White House comments line, which is still advertised on the White Houses website, has been shut down.
ThinkProgress repeatedly called the number and received the same message each time: Thank you for calling the White House comments line. The comment line is currently closed.
Citizens are instead urged to go to the White House web form or Facebook messenger to send a message to the president. This would seem to indicate that the 13 percent of American adults who do not use the Internet have, just days into Trumps presidency, been forgotten.

I guess they couldn't pay anyone enough to listen to what the people really think of Trump...

(22,669 posts)"It" is suppose to be power. But if you go by his word, that means he's going to take power from the people.
Kinda figured that would be the cause already, so shutting down the WH Comments Line, while disappointing YET AGAIN, it is hardly a surprise.

(27,801 posts)I should know, I called it often enough.
What's more chilling to me about this is the way people are more easily tracked in they use a platform like Facebook Messenger to comment. You can't tell me that this isn't partially about tracking people as part of his petty revenge tactics.

(86,536 posts)computer stopped working on the internet last night. I have two services available and the connection works but not one web page will load on either of them. I am on a computer I borrowed and I am able to get on with it. I wonder if my computer was compromised somehow, I've run scans and conducted disc cleanup after every session lately, just because. There always seem to be a ton of "things" lingering after I've been at Du for a while and clicking on links. I don't go to most off-site links and have filters on my browser etc. Not liking the new world so far.

(7,527 posts)That these operators might have been part of the previous admin staff that he swept out. Many phone menus are designed to drop to a "sorry we're closed" message when nobody is logged in to take the calls.
It's possible this is a low priority item for them and they just haven't gotten around to filling those positions yet.
Not that I'm defending him, but it sounds like a lot of balls were dropped this weekend.

"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."
"That's the display department."
"With a flashlight."
"Ah, well the lights had probably gone."
"So had the stairs."
"But look, you found the notice didn't you?"
"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.'"

Why should expect them to waste the time of fielding calls?
