Trump bans EPA employees from giving social media updates

Source: The Hill

President Trump has banned employees of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from giving social media updates and speaking with reporters, according to The Associated Press.

The EPA ban comes amid other reports of agency staff being restricted from interacting the members of the Congress or the general public.

BuzzFeed reported Tuesday that the Department of Agriculture instituted a similar ban, telling its employees not to distribute information about research papers or to post on Twitter under the agency's name. A Tuesday report in the Huffington Post said agency employees under the Department of Health and Human Services were told not to speak to public officials.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer declined to comment on the reports, saying that he wasn't familiar yet with the specific reported bans. But Spicer said it was natural for a new administration to reconsider agency operations.

Note: This is different and more far-reaching than the earlier ban on discussing research findings.

This can't be legal. As taxpayers, we're entitled to obtain any and all information generated by taxpayer dollars. We're in big trouble here, folks.

The point is to stop the EPA from doing their jobs until his minions takes over and starts gutting the place. Any official correspondence would let them continue functioning and making/changing rules. If I remember, President Obama put out a few ACA clarifications via the Whitehouse blog. Even social media let's the government 'publish'. Leaks carry no formal weight

it is, for the moment, still intact. There is real information on Climate Change, Greenhouse Gas, Pollution, and everything else. I got a popup survey, and made sure that I praised the current site and data, and strongly asked that they make sure that science does not become politicized and censored.

I fully expect all of their climate change and several other sections to be 'disappeared' within the near future, though.

with all the data files they could get their hands on. The University of Pennsylvania and a group in Toronto have been making sure that data (and context) are safely archived in several places, including out of the country.

Or if they themselves aren't working or owning businesses that depend on government research and public information to be able to do business or to save costs, both here and abroad, then it won't immediately affect them.
Just like public lands being sold off won't affect those who think the government has nothing to do with them - until they want to take the family to Yellowstone or some other national park like their parents did, or go camping, hunting or fishing in the summer, and find out they either can't get to where they've always gone - because a mining company now owns the land, or wait another season to pay some foreign holding company hundreds of dollars for a "vacation package" at a brand new resort.

Most Trumpeteers and those who "don't vote" just equate government work with some useless project that tracks the sex lives of cockroaches or a useless environmental regulation that mandates handling of run-off waste water so they can't wash their cars on the street, or handing out money to "those" people who are too lazy to work.

So they'll cheer on a dictator showing those liberals who's boss and gutting government - until they and their kids start getting sick from preventable or environmental pathogens. Until the cost of food and other real necessities shoot up 200% in a year because of crop failures and unregulated business practices.

Until their workplace takes safety short-cuts, and removes labor protections - when they have to shut up, work extra hours, and take whatever the boss wants to pay them - if he pays them at all, if they want to keep their jobs.

Until the only hospital within a hundred miles shuts down, until their schools close down and there's no child care available, until their utilities become too expensive to keep on 24 hours, until their disabled or elderly neighbors die of exposure and neglect, until their local police get laid off and they realize on their own - and how much that nasty government actually did for them.

No, the rich robbing government and taxpayers to get richer doesn't even cross their mind - and won't bother them one bit until they end up on the street with nothing but their stubborn prejudice and pride.

And then the few wealthy people left in their churches - ones who had actively participated in the gutting of their communities will turn their backs on them - because "there's just not enough money, and God is punishing you with poverty because of your sins."

Americans been encouraged by pundit media to be selfish and hate "the tax dollar competition" for 40 years now - they see "Government" as a swindle stealing their time and resources instead of a way of maintaining a community. That seed has been planted and well watered with very profitable propaganda.
