Dems: Trump voter fraud 'fantasy' a distraction from Russian help

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 01/25/17 11:26 AM EST

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Wednesday knocked President Trump for his claims of rampant voter fraud during the 2016 election, calling them a distraction.

The DNC said in a statement that "everyone knows there was no massive voter fraud in the election," arguing Trump's allegations were an effort to distract people from Russian meddling in the election. "He can't let go of his voter fraud fantasy — both because he cannot bear the thought that millions more Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than for him, and to cover up the real crime: Russian efforts to help him win," the DNC said.

The president on Wednesday announced he would ask for a "major investigation into voter fraud." He said in a series of tweets that the country would "strengthen up voting procedures" depending on the results of the investigation. The DNC mocked Trump's call for an investigation involving "phantom voters."

"While he’s throwing away taxpayer dollars looking for millions of phantom voters, Trump might as well investigate the whereabouts of Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster too," the DNC said. "If he’s interested in doing his new job as our President, he should protect our nation by cooperating with Congress and the Intelligence Community investigations into Russia's attack on our elections and his team’s potential collusion with them.”

Red Herring
Explanation

The red herring is as much a debate tactic as it is a logical fallacy. It is a fallacy of distraction, and is committed when a listener attempts to divert an arguer from his argument by introducing another topic. Logical Fallacies

We need to blow it all over social media, especially the dark corners where Trump Chumps dwell.

A big bingo....let's all think about this...which would you rather see in the way of serious investigations.

1. Investigation to find 3-5 million illegal voters that don't exist.
2. Comey throwing of the election, being a traitor.
3. Trump staff's involvements with Russia.
4. Russia's interference in our (supposedly) "Free and Fair" elections.

Trump is trying to get America to focus on voter fraud (that his voters will eat up), while sweeping 2-4 under the proverbial rug.

He is claiming the opposite that there were more votes than there should be. It's trivial to just not count a vote like we do here in King County (Seattle) Washington. You just toss it in the trash like is constantly done here. Fabricating a new vote is much harder.

Its the Rovian playbook. While the news cycles along with the public are reeling from the last one and are still processing it even, they hit you with another headliner.

And all the while forming the new 'reality' where the stories come so fast and hard there is not only no time to properly study each development, but if the media does start to raise the alarm bell they will be charged with 'persecuting' and working for Democrats.

Believe me, no one will be talking about this voter fraud investigation in two or three days because there will be something else more disturbing and outrageous to occupy the news cycle. And while they are catching up and trying to disect that one, behind the scenes the next action will be being decided.

Traditional news media is not set up to deal with this type of perpetual disruptive cacophony.
